Joan went on a blind date with a young man serving in the US Air Force, Leonard Lee Schmierer. The couple married April 26, 1969 in Hudson, Michigan. What made their life together special? Leonard said, that sticking together through the years of service and the time spent in the military, made their marriage special.
Joan and Leonard enjoyed buying homes and raising their children. Tina, Carri, Patrick Wade and Holly. The couple enjoyed spending time with their close friends: Elias and Tulas Huerta, and Henry and Kathy Quaule.
