

In his 85th year, Alan James Brown passed away peacefully at Southlake Regional Health Centre in Newmarket on Sunday July 22, 2018. Beloved husband of Marina (nee King) for 64 years. Loving father of David (Karen), Tami (Doug), Laurie (Trevor) and Leslie (John). Cherished Pa of Michelle (Chris), Dylan, Daniel, Nicole, Breanne, Ashleigh, Hilary, Amanda and great grandpa to Mason and Blaze. Survived by siblings Bob (Adrianna), Jack (Bunny) and brother-in-law Johnny and predeceased by Don (Donna), Barbara and Joan. Deeply committed to his family, Alan provided inspiration and encouragement to help his loved ones reach their goals and potential. He lived his life with integrity and modelled empathy and kindness. Alan was dedicated to his career of over 40 years where he began as an office boy and worked to eventually become President of the firm Rybka Smith and Ginsler Mechanical and Electrical Consulting Engineers. He was passionate about the arts demonstrated through his love of music, photography and painting. Throughout his life, he was an avid sports enthusiast. Baseball, golf and hockey were his favourite games to play, coach and watch. Alan and Marina enjoyed many years of sport and friendship at Bayview Country Club (Past President) and Tara Golf and Country Club. Alan will be dearly missed by family and friends. Visitation will be held at the Thompson Funeral Home, 530 Industrial Parkway South, Aurora, 905-727-5421 on Thursday July 26 from 5pm – 8pm and again on Friday July 27 from 11am until the time of the service at 12pm. Interment is at Aurora Cemetery. Donations in Alan’s memory can be made to Southlake Regional Health Centre’s Medicine Program.
