OBITUARIO
Douglas Victor Baldwin
3 julio , 1939 – 11 enero , 2021
Sadly we announce Doug’s passing, leaving behind his loving wife Angie, loving daughters Leesa (Jamie Pietrkiewicz), Annice, (David Passafiume), sisters Jacqui and Julie and adored grandchildren, Daniel, Brittany, Alisa, Madison, Jenna and Matthew and predeceased by his first wife Patience (1988), brothers Leonard, Richard, Teddy and Peter, and parents Victor and Betty Baldwin. Doug spent the first 6 years of his life in London England surviving WW2 and Hitler’s bombings. Grammar School, Brunel College and working for Gresham Transformers Ltd gave him a life’s love of electrical engineering.
In 1966, Doug and wife Pat, with a contract from GE Canada, landed in Guelph Ontario, starting another life-long love affair, with Canada. Moving to Federal Pioneer Electric in Winnipeg the next year, they spent 12 happy years there raising 2 daughters and building his career in Marketing and Sales. Moving back to Toronto with the company Doug worked his way up to President & CEO of successor company Schneider Electric Canada and ended his career as President & CEO of Electrofed Canada. On retirement he and Angie happily travelled the world together and had many remarkable adventures in the 100+ countries visited and made many new friends. They spent summers at their cottage on Lake of Bays with friends and family, enjoying the Dwight community. He also enjoyed his industry friendships and board activities, and invigorating times with ‘the grandkids’. Throughout life’s ups and downs, his energy, determination, optimism and British humour served him well and he was so proud of the love of his family and always respected the people and friends he worked with.
In accordance with his wishes, Doug will be cremated with a private family funeral. If he positively affected your life in any way, raise a glass or mentor someone. Donations to the Salvation Army salvationarmy.ca/donations/donate-online would be appreciated.
Condolences can be left at Thompson Funeral Home www.thompsonfh-aurora.com.

Angie; so saddened and shocked to read yesterday's letter about Doug's passing. We both so remember you folks at the MANY Blue Mountain Pottery Conventions. Evelyne said she remembers carrying your purchases out to the car where Doug would find room for your treasures. And we both remember his big smile and cheery "hello" every time we met. And of course the BIG hugs you gave...and received..at every event where we met. We are both saddened to hear of your loss Angie and we are both thinking of you and your family. We will meet again and look forward to seeing you once more. Words and thoughts do not seem like much but they are truly sincere from both of us.

I am so grateful to know my Uncle Doug for the time that I did. Countless memories at the cottage and Christmas will be forever held close to my heart. His worldly knowledge for history, books and culture always fascinated me. Above all, he was a kind and humble person who spoke so highly of those he loved including; Auntie, his children, grandchildren and family back home. He is truly a special person that has inspired me. He will be deeply missed. -Miranda

Angie, my heartfelt condolences on the passing of your beloved Doug. Memories, they sustain us during difficult times and give us comfort moving forward. Through our connection in Puerto Vallarta, it resulted in you both taking the time to visit Morton Castle in Thornhill, Scotland where my dear partner Eric and I spent many happy times making memories ourselves. The fact that you both would make the time and effort to visit it, speaks volumes as to your compassion for others. Doug took great pleasure in telling me of the search you had to make to get there, something I will cherish for years to come. Angie, I know you will have many of these moments in the years ahead.

This is very sad news to learn of Doug Baldwin’s passing. I met Doug in early 1969 shortly after Federal acquired Pioneer Transformers. We developed a friendship that we maintained even through our competitive years. Doug’s honesty, enthusiasm, loyalty and dedication are the attributes that earn him the respect of his employees and the industry. He will be missed.

To my auntie and Doug’s family- my deepest condolences. Sending love & hugs to help ease the pain.
Doug was such a lovely man. He was always an engaging and interesting conversation partner, especially when discussing travel and his many wonderful adventures with my aunt. He graciously hosted us at their cottage many times and was always a delight at family functions. I am forever grateful for the time we got to spend together and for his obvious love and devotion to my auntie Angie, whom he affectionately deemed ‘our fearless leader’.
Rest peacefully dear man.

I am so saddened to hear of Doug’s passing. I recall in my early days with the company running into Doug in the halls. As lowly young employee at the time, I was always impressed that he would stop briefly to talk to me, that he remembered my name. He would usually ask a tough question about my business, always keeping you on your toes. He showed interest and genuinely cared for the people who worked for him. I guess we can all hope to leave such an impression when it’s our time.
My deepest condolences to his family and friends.

Susan and I are deeply saddened by the news of Doug’s passing. I met Doug at Federal Pioneer in 1983, he had a remarkable presence, sense of humour, and a sincere warmth. A year or so later when he met Susan, Doug told her “Hold on to this guy, he’s one of the good ones.” He genuinely cared for the people who worked for him.
Doug was remarkable and will be missed by anyone who knew him.

To the Family
I didn't know Mr. Baldwin, however I do know his incredible daughter Lessa, her husband Jamie, and their children Maddie, Jenna and Matthew.
This family is the most caring, loving and wonderful family. If they are a reflection if the man that Douglas was then he must of been an exceptional person.
My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
