

Douglas Munro Freel, 77, passed away at his Newmarket home on Sunday, May 15th 2011 after a brief battle with cancer. Born in 1934 in Dundee, Scotland of Joe Freel and Bella (Munro) Freel, he emigrated to Canada with his family in 1969. Douglas, a brilliant architect was instrumental in the design and construction of projects at Sunnybrook hospital and Lamport Stadium to name a few... Douglas loved writing, golf and being with his family. He is survived by his loving wife Dorothy of 51 years. He will be sadly missed by his two sons Mark and Heath (Davida). His four grandchildren, Ashley, James, Janelle and Owen remember him with love. His family in Syracuse, NY and friends across the globe will remember him in their hearts.
Funeral services will be held at Thompson's Funeral home (530 Industrial Parkway South, Aurora, Ontario). Visitation: Friday, May 20th - 2:00pm-4:00pm and Saturday, May 21st at 1:00pm. Funeral service to be held Saturday, May 21st at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart & Stroke foundation would be appreciated.
