My Tribute to mommy:
Good morning, before I speak about our mother, on behalf of my father and the family, we would like to thank all of you for coming today. A special thank you to Reverend Dawn Davis who visited mom on a regular basis at home and the hospital, and especially for interrupting her holiday with her husband David and daughter Yohanna and flew in this morning from Halifax for the day just to do the service for us. We would also like to extend a big thank you to Reverend Heather Westbrook who visited mom on a regular basis, prayed and brought her Holy Communion every Sunday over the past two months because mom couldn't go to church and for also arranging for some of the members of Trinity Unplugges to come to the Hospital and sing for mom by her bedside, thank you, Reverend Alan Ferguson, organist John Clements, Betty Innes, George Johnstone, the Flower Guild for the beautiful memorial that you have done in the back corner, all the volunteers who helped out yesterday at the visitations, the volunteers helping today and of course all the Parishners at Trinity Aurora for all the cards that were written and delivered and for the out pour of prayers, love and support. Trinity was a big part of mom's life and we thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.
Although my mommy taught me to be strong it has been difficult, a few days ago when she passed away I had the hardest day of my life and today I stand here with a broken heart.  So mommy, although you said to Reverend Dawn “don't let Wayne speak at my funeral because he will be a mess”  As I look up at you now, I ask you, give me the strength to speak about you and help me get through the most difficult time of my life and like you promised you would, put your hand on my arm and let me know you are there.  I could have never imagined that it would have been so difficult to lose a parent. I think what makes this so difficult is that she was such an amazing mother and an incredible human being, like most mothers she was the glue that kept us together and made us a close family. I thank God for being her son and I thank mom for treating Linda like a daughter and for being such an influence in Aaron and Michael's lives and for treating Jessica and Julianne like her grand daughters. They always made her proud and happy. She was exceptionally proud and happy on July 1st, Canada Day.  Linda and I were out for dinner and I decided to go back by myself at 10:00pm at night to say goodnight, as I was leaving at 11:00pm, Aaron was arriving to sit by his nana and I found out the next day that when Aaron left at midnight, Michael arrived to sit be his nana's bedside.  The 3 of us had not spoken about this yet we all had the same idea, I was so proud of my sons and I know so was mom and it made her so happy.
Not only did we lose our mother, we lost a wife and my father's soul mate of over 60 years, a Grandmother to Aaron and Michael, great grandmother to Harrison and a friend to so many. It saddens me to think that Harrison will not get to know mom. I know that she loved him so much and she was looking so forward to babysitting him when Jessica went back to work. Over  the last couple of months while mom fought her final battle with cancer I was overwhelmed by so many stories of how our mother touched so many lives. I would say the attendance yesterday and here today speaks for itself. People that I have never met before brought me to tears speaking about our mother and how she impacted their life. I heard things like "she has a magnetic personality" "never speaks ill of others and most commonly people spoke of her sincerity, warmth and how her words of wisdom and encouragement helped them deal with situations in their life and of course how comforting she was and lest not forget the hugs, and how people loved her hugs. They were so warm and sincere.  To no one's surprise I'm sure, she even had all the nurses hugging her in the Hospital. There are so many stories and I encourage all of you to share those stories over some refreshments and a bite to eat following the service downstairs in the church hall. What amazes me the most and some of you may not know, but our mother was not raised with the love and affection that she so easily gives. Mom's parents never said I love you yet my mother found it so easy to demonstrate her affection and told us that she loved us every day. That only tells me that the love and affection that she gave to us as a family and to her friends was in her to give and that's what makes her a remarkable lady and a lady she was. We are all sad as we have lost someone special someone who is one in a million and who will surely be missed.  Although we have lost our angel on earth, heaven and the lord has gained an angel and I can tell you all with no doubt because she told me. She will be watching over all of us. Our mother would want us to celebrate her life and not mourn her passing as she has gone to a better place and she would want us to be happy for her.

Hi there Wayne, Michael and I wanted to reach out and express our deepest condolence to you and your family for the loss of your beautiful mother.

Times like these are never easy but we have to remember it's in these times that God is closest to us and there to carry us through the pain.  Romans 34:18 says "When you are broken hearted, I am close to you".  We are sorry we were not able to attend the service but I'm sure it was a beautiful home going.  

Please give your family big hugs from the Clemons family and we will keep each of you in prayers as you go through this tuff time and know that it does get easier with time.  May God continue to keep you in his loving arms!

It is with a sad and heavy heart that I post the passing of a true angel on earth. This beautiful lady was an incredible mother, the love of her husband's life and a truly angelic soul. A friend to all that ever met her.... thank you for allowing me to be a part of your beautiful family for all these years. You will be missed dear Mama Edith. Rest in Eternal Peace...I love you all so much xoxoo

I just heard the news of Edith's passing five minutes ago.  My heart sank.  Steve and I send our deepest condolences to you Bill and your lovely family.  

Edith always made me smile big.  She was such a pleasure to be around listening to her talk about family, concerns for friends and planning social occasions.  We are blessed to have known you both for almost 40 years.  She will be missed but, never forgotten.  She is free now and watching over us all now.  Until we meet again.  God bless. XOXO

"My Mama"  I wanted to start by saying, the love in this room right now is beyond words and so overwhelming but not surprising.  Edith was a loving wife, a caring mom, a proud nana & a proud-proud great-nana. A true fried,  A mother who treated and loved her in-laws like they were her own children. She was always so proud of her children & told us all on a daily basis.  We didn't have to do much to make her proud, she would say, just by being you! We were fortunate to spend every single day and night with my mom for the past 2 months. She made us laugh right up until it was time to say goodbye.  I remember one night last week when my mom was just hearing us at this point; my brother Brad & I were sitting on either side of her talking about stories and how she was and still making us laugh while I'm sure she was feeling discomfort & pain.  We were making reference to some faces she would make. We both looked down at her and saw the most beautiful smile on her face that I'm sure  took every ounce of energy she had in her to smile, but she did it and she did it for us.  Later that evening, one of the nurses came into the room and as she was tending to my mom, she looked at me and whispered "I love your mom"  I told her "She's very easy to love".  I want all of you and her loved ones to know that mama was never scared. I would ask her if she was scared & her response would be, I'm not scared, I really have no fear. I'm going to a nice place but I will still always be by your side and I'll be watching you (as she would point to her eyes and then to me) and then said, "I've had the most beautiful life that anyone could dream of, wonderful husband, beautiful children, grandchildren & a great grandson. My life is filled with love, family & friends. I asked her the second she gets scared, I wanted her to tell me because  I  didn't want her to be  scared alone. She never did. My mom & I always said we were a good team & we worked well together.  I'm going to miss you Mom. Our 4 or 5 daily phone calls, our outings, our spa days but most of all I'm going to miss your love. Mom, I'm going to miss our family dinners that you planned that were filled with lots of food, wine, laughter & love. Her menu always consisted of various food items that she would just call "mis-mash" that meant all of her families favourite dishes, I'm going to miss game nights but most of all I'm going to miss your love. No one will love me like you did. You always taught me life lessons and your were such a wise womean.  You are still teaching me.  It's your turn to rest, sit back & enjoy your next journey. "Good Morning.  I Feel We Have To  Introduce Ourselves,  I'm Brad And This Is Patrick.  Many Of You May Know Me As The Middle Baby.  We Didn't Make All My Mom's Soirees, Tea Parties, BBQ's Or Any Other Excuse She Could Come Up With To Bring Her Friends And Family Together.  The Truth Is There Was One Every Weekend And We Just Couldn't Keep Up.

I've Been Thinking About This Moment For Quite Some Time And Thought I Would Have Plenty Of Time To Prepare But The Reality Is You Can Never Be Prepared,  Especially With My Mom.  She Was Physically,  Mentally And Emotionally Healthy But Even She Could Not Stop This Awful Disease.

So Much To Say About My Mother But Really Nothing Needs To Be Said.  Everyone Here Has Experienced More Than Words Can Say.  The Unconditional Love,  The Relentless  Sharing  And The Constant Caring. 

As A Friend, Wife, Mother And Grandmother She Had Us Laughing And Crying To The Very Last Moment.  She Spared Our Feelings Above Her Own As Usual And Made Us Stronger Keeping Us Together To The Very Last Second.  Kudos Mom, You Did It Again And  Planned The Perfect Good Bye.

My Mom Taught Us Many Things But Above All 2 Simple Rules To Life And Happiness;  Never Have Regrets And Always Be Grateful.  If You Are Regretting Something Now Why Wait She Would Say, Deal With It Now.  Always Be Grateful She Said.  Every Day When You Wake Up And Put Your Feet On The Floor Say Thank You For Another Day.  Of Course My Mom Who Always Did More Also Prayed Every Night For Those In Need And For Her Friends And Family.

As This Is A Tribute To My Mom The Best Tribute I Can Think Of Is What She Would Do If She Could Speak Right Now And That Is To Say Thank You To All Of You.  Thank You To The Doctors And Nurses That Cared For Her, Thank You To The Many Many Friends, Clergy And Parishioners At Her Church That Were Part Of Her Life And Allowed Her To Be Part Of Theirs. And Thank You To Her Family,  Her Husband, Her Children Her Grandchildren And Her Great Grandson For Making Her Life More Complete Than It Already Was.  My Mother Was Always Very Grateful For All She Had And Never Took It For Granted.

Mom, I Know U Can Hear Us.  You Were Always The Hostess With The Mostess And This Is The Biggest Party Ever In Your Honour.  So No Need To Look After Your Guests As It's Your Turn To Be Looked After And Enjoy The Celebration Of Your Life.

Rest For A Moment Mom As You Will Be Very Busy Soon Getting Ready For Your Loved Ones."

Edith Walker was one of the most amazing, special people I have ever met. Knowing her made life more enjoyable. She will truly be missed. We are all blessed to have experienced life through Edith. My deepest condolences to the Walker family and all of Edith's friends.

Our most heartfelt sympathies are with the Walker Family for the loss of such a truly wonderful woman.  She was loved by all who knew who and will be forever missed.
