Eldred Elenor Carson

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Eldred Carson (Nee: Ellis), on Friday, December 18th, 2020, at the age of 86. Eldred was born in Aurora on July 30th, 1934 and was a long-time resident of Newmarket.

Eldred, affectionately known as “George” by those who loved her, was a loving wife to Kenneth for over 62 years, and a devoted mother to Darrell, Blair and Duane (Tania). She was an adored and cherished grandmother of Miah.

Eldred is predeceased by her brothers, Murray and Leon, and sister, Eldene Weir. She will be greatly missed by her sister, Wanda Eveleigh (Verne), her brother, LeRoy Ellis, and her extended family, including her many nieces and nephews. She will be fondly remembered by Jack and Gabriele Coleman. Eldred was a second mom to Vince and Shirley Swanton, and an honorary grandma to Tamara and Jayda.

She will also be missed by her Special Olympics family. Eldred was a fierce and trusted supporter of the many athletes who loved her dearly. One could always find Eldred cheering on the athletes at many Special Olympics events; whether it was on the deck of the pool or in the stands of the ball diamond, her encouraging voice could be heard over the crowd. She was a passionate advocate of those with intellectual disabilities, always ready to listen or lend a hand.

Eldred loved and was loved by her family and all of those whose lives she enriched with her strength, devotion and compassion.

She enjoyed looking after her boys, holiday dinners, parties and family gatherings, dinners out on special occasions, flowers in the garden, figure skating, and watching the neighbourhood from wherever she was. Listening to music was her “thing” and the radio was always on in the house, playing her favourites including any good old country music, Patsy Cline, or of course Elvis.

Eldred loved Christmas, and this year will be extra special for her as she is now celebrating Christmas with the angels!

A family service will be arranged for a later date.

Memorial donations may be made in Eldred’s name to Special Olympics Ontario.
