Gabrielle is a great loss to the profession. She was a committed teacher who delivered the program passionately, and most importantly with understanding to the different needs of her students. I treasure her guidance. She is missed tremendously!

Ms. O'Reilly was a beloved colleague, teacher and friend in our school community for over 20 years.  The outpouring of condolences from students, staff, and parents—both past and present—are a remarkable testament to Gabrielle and the unforgettable impact she had on all those who had the privilege of knowing her.

I will always remember Gabrielle for her unwavering spirit of gratitude and humility.  She was grateful under all circumstances and sought to learn from everyone she encountered, whether students, colleagues or parents. Her ability to connect, inspire and teach was unparalleled, leaving an indelible mark on our school community.

I am deeply shocked and saddened to hear of the sudden passing of Ms. O'Reilly.  I am a member of the Rosary Apostolate and have been visiting St. Bartholomew school for several years now - once a month, from Oct - May each academic year.  My last memory of praying with the Grade 5-8's was of Ms. O'Reilly - her genuine 'thank you, Mrs. Alphonso' that came from her heart and her Christmas wishes.  I visit several schools each month and Ms. O'Reilly - in her gentleness and kindness, stood out in a very quiet way.  I witnessed her over the months and years, grow to enjoy praying the rosary with the students and with me each month. 
Will miss you on my school visits, Ms. O'Reilly and will remember you in my daily personal and family prayers for the departed - especially in our daily rosary and Mass.  May you rest in peace eternal in the arms of your Heavenly Mother Mary and her beloved Son Jesus who have always loved you with a love beyond explanation and who have always been close to you.
Perpetual Masses will be offered for the repose of your soul by the Salesian Fathers in Mumbai, India.

Dear Rob, James & families, 

Please accept deepest condolences on the passing of your beloved sister, aunt & sister-in-law, from Ranjit, from me, & from my NL family (who enjoyed getting to know Gabrielle here in Toronto, or on her trip to NL 11 years ago). I have never met anyone who loved their family more than Gab did, or who felt more loved in return. We all know how very blessed we were to have her in our lives. 

The photo above is from last March, when (L-R) Annemarie Muir, Gabrielle & I went out to celebrate her birthday. 

I have wonderful  memories of years teaching alongside Gabrielle, but even more special ones from ordinary moments of our friendship … so many conversations over cups & cups of coffee, a mutual love of good books & music & cats, our laughing over the corniest puns & all things quirky,  those shared Irish roots…and especially the times when we discovered the deep, lasting importance of  being in each other’s lives. 

There are such lovely texts & emails being sent among her friends, colleagues, former students & parents. These are a couple of samples from among several sent by former students at St. Bartholomew, now  young adults : 

“…that picture is just as I remember her in school. May she rest in peace, and hope she knows the impact she had on so many people”. 
    
       “…I wasn’t directly one of her students but her positive impact on all the students at St. Bart’s was indelible. I remember her being a great teacher and role model for us kids. My parents and I remember her very fondly and are very sad to hear of her passing...”
 
There is so  much more that could be shared…but you already know how special Gabrielle was!  We all did.

I miss you so much, Gab.  You will always be here in my heart. Rest in peace, my friend, & in the loving light of Christ.

John and I are deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Gabby.

I enjoyed working at St. Bartholomew with Gabby very much. She welcomed me to the school with open arms and we were instant friends. When time would allow us, we would spend our time talking, laughing and sharing stories for an entire lunch period or late after school–when we found out we were connected not only through common friends throughout the TCDSB, but also through the two of you and your parents, we were delighted to discover that our memories included common people, the home you grew up in and our beloved Aurora. She was an amazing teacher and a kind, caring person.

Dear Rob and James,
I am deeply saddened by the passing of your sister, my dear friend Gabrielle.  Gabrielle and I worked together many years ago at St Bartholomew and once I left the school we became trusted friends.  Together we travelled to Newfoundland to visit our good friend Sharon Tracey and we definitely shared many laughs on that trip.  Over the years we went to the TSO, shared a hotel room on a school trip to Montreal, visited Buskerfest and even flitted around on Segways at the Distillery.  Gabrielle was so much fun.  She had a brilliant mind and was very creative.  When I introduced her to jewelry making, she kicked it up a notch by doing silversmithing, always surpassing many of us in terms of what she could do creatively. 
Gabrielle was well loved by the school community and she lived for her students.  She had an inquisitive mind and an ability to instil a love of learning and curiosity about the world in her students.  As a staff member she always carried her weight. 
Gabrielle often talked about her family.  She spoke highly of both of you and your wives as well, but I had a sense that she absolutely adored her niece and nephews and she was genuinely proud of all of you.
As a person, Gabrielle was always kind and generous and I don’t think I can ever recall her  saying a negative word about anyone.
I will forever remember Gabrielle as a beautiful, willowy woman who was constantly so well put together, wearing her Fluevogs and a carefully chosen scarf wrapped around her shoulders.  But that was Gabrielle, she always stood out.  She was impeccable in everything she did.

I will miss you so very much Gabrielle.
