Dear Hannah, Nicole and Rob.
What a shock today when I heard of Karl's passing.  He was a person that I always respected for his honesty, trust and caring. always accompanied with his wonderful smile. I know a visit to my office was not something he looked forward to, but he never left without a kind word and a brave smile.
You were blessed with a great loving  husband/father who will be greatly missed, not only by you, but all those who were fortunate to have known him.

Dear Hannah, Rob and Nicole,
I am so sorry to hear of Karl’s passing.  
I enjoyed having Karl along with all of you as patients for many years at Dr Beveridge’s office.  Karl was always such a pleasure to talk to whenever he visited.  
I hope you  find comfort in your wonderful memories.  

Karl, it is very hard to say goodbye to you. Tony and I are so saddened by your recent death. You will always be in our hearts with so many special memories. Who can forget the many happy dinners we shared at each other’s homes, to trips to Florida and our surprise visit to Austria for your 70th birthday. We can still hear your heartfelt laughter and see you in our doorway with an armful of the most beautiful flowers! Karl, you were a true gentleman kind, caring , fair, a loving husband, a good father and a proud Opa.

Karl was a great person, very nice and helpful. It was an honour to know him for a long time.  My sincerest condolences for the Harbauer family.  You have my deepest sympathy in this difficult time.  Rest In Peace Karl. 

My family and I are so fortunate to have known Karl through his wonderful daughter Nicole.  Karl was always welcoming to us and I distinctly remember his good humour.  I also remember that you could see the love he had for his family and their love and affection for him.  It is an honour to be connected to his beautiful family and to have him as an example in our lives.  Rest in peace Karl.

It was very sad and heartbreaking news to me about Karl's passing.
I met Karl many years ago. He was a very professional ,kind person. He always had a great sense of humour.

I have a lot of good memories of Karl over several decades when he visited my clinic to help out with therapy equipment. He was always very personable and “knew his stuff!” Even in his retirement I could call him for advice and help, and he always responded with kindness and enthusiasm! I will dearly miss him!

Saying goodbye to a loved one is always difficult.
And there are so many different goodbyes.
We say goodby to Karli, our brother in law.
He was born in 1941, in the middle of World War II. The subsequent post-war years were anything but easy, so he and our elder sister Hannelore decided to migrate to Canada in 1965. This was a difficult goodby, because our sister was so far from us, with an ocean between. Monika, was only six years old, Karli was a stranger to her.
When we made the first visit in 1972, Rob had been born, they already had a house, we were able to go on excursions, it was a great experience being with them and the first opportunity to get to know Karli better.
His empathy, his concern for getting things right, his family priority and of course his sense of humor are unforgettable.
Fortunately a few more visits followed, and thanks to the two of them , family ties grew closer, it was like coming home, despite the distance.
"Every goodbye is a small death, but every death is a big goodbye".
With the death of a loved one you lose a lot, but never the time spent together, and we are very grateful for this time.
We are very sad with you dear Hannelore, Rob, Nicole, Robert, Katya and Elisabeth.

My favourite things about Opa were his hugs and how he clowned around when other people were serious. Thank you Opa for teaching me how to play chess. 

Karl was a wonderful father, the kind of parent I hope to be. Firm but fair, with high expectations but gentle understanding. He recognized the best in people and knew how to draw it out. That he was such a great parent was all the more amazing given his own often difficult childhood, never knowing his father, who was taken by war shortly after his twin sons were born. My mother was the great love of his life and he not only loved but respected her deeply. Dad was determined to provide a secure and comfortable life for his family, but never did so at the expense of relationships, and all who dealt with him knew him as a man of great integrity but also great humour. He always made others laugh, sometimes by dissolving in laughter before getting to the punchline of his own jokes. I am so grateful to have had such a wonderful father, and so glad that Elisabeth got to know her Opa before he passed. 

I grew up playing tennis with Nicole and I’ll never forget the countless times I used to see Johanna and Karl - whether it was at their house, at the tennis clubs or at the Rogers Cup. I loved running into them. They were ALWAYS so welcoming and kind. And Karl, he was so funny. Very dry from what I remember, but funny. And he knew a lot about cars. He also knew a lot about medical equipment. One time when I was recovering from a surgery related to a sports injury, as part of my rehab he generously dropped off this therapeutic medical-grade large infrared treatment device. The kind of thing they used in rehab centres, just so I could get better, faster. I can’t remember what it did or how it work but as I look back on this memory as an adult, now, he didn’t have to do it but that’s just the kind of person he was.  Oh, I could go on and on. Sending lots of love to Johanna, Nicole and Rob and their families. I’m just so sorry for your loss. Karl was such a wonderful man. 

Karl and I met for the first time some 46 years ago and ever since I loved his wonderful humor and enjoyed his company in all our reunions. 
He was an exceptional person that always filled every room with an incredible aura. Him being around gave me always a good feeling.

My wife, Susan and I wish to express our heartfelt sympathies to Hannelore, Rob and Nicole, and their respective families on Karl's sudden passing. 
For those of us that knew Karl, our world now shines a little less brightly ..... but our loss is heaven's gain! If I tried to describe Karl in just 2 words, it would be "disciplined gentleman". He was someone I always admired and respected over an association / friendship of more than 40 years.
Rest in peace Karl.... but know you are missed!

We lost the most amazing neighbor whom everyone loves and wants to be with.

Karl left so many pleasant memories for us and these will be forever cherished in our hearts. He had a special talent for comforting people through his wonderful sense of humor and heartfelt words.

Karl exemplified to us what it meant to be an amazing husband, father, grandfather, and neighbor.

My thoughts and prayers are with Johanna, Robert's , and Nicole's family in hopes that these would help ease the pain of loss, and may God provide  the loved ones with the strength and peace of mind through these difficult times.

Karl was the kind of man we all strive to be: wise, strong, respectful, intelligent, industrious, loyal, disciplined, devoted, dedicated, hard-working, gracious, charismatic, brave, and most of all - loving. He exuded  so much love for his amazing wife Johanna, for his beautiful children Nicole and Robert, and for his incredible grandchildren Elisabeth and Katya. I learned so much about life and love from Karl through the many memorable conversations we had in the warmth of his and Johanna’s home. I am truly honoured to have known him and blessed that I could call him my father-in-law. He will be deeply missed and always loved.

We are deeply saddened by the news of Karl’s passing. Our memories are seeing a warm smile, soft words and loving demeanor. Karl will be missed but will live on in all the minds of those who had the privilege of knowing him. Johanna, Robert, Jenny, Nicole, Robert H, Katya & Elisabeth, please accept our most heartfelt sympathies for your loss. Our thoughts are with you and your family during this difficult time.

The experience of losing a loved one is always a profoundly painful
experience.  How we process the grief and sorrow is a very personal
human emotion.  In view of that, at this time we would like to send
our warmest embrace, our deepest condolences and our thoughts 
of the kindest memories.  We will remember Karl for his “Old Country” values, charm and integrity which he brought with him to
his adopted new world.  We feel honoured to be part of his family.
