Kenneth C. Shain

Died February 18, 2010 in Toronto, after surviving a double lung transplant December 4, 2009 at Toronto General Hospital. Sorely missed by his father Dr. D.A. Shain of Bobcaygeon, ON and sister Jo-Anne Conners of London, ON. Lovingly remembered by nieces Kristine Dos Santos (Shawn) of Victoria, B.C., Katherine Moss (David) of Whitby, ON and nephew Kevin Conners (Tina) of London, ON as well as great grand nieces and nephews Brett(9); Emma (7); Blake (4); Jude (3); and Annie (2). Sadly missed by aunts Pat Olmstead of Toronto, ON and Deborah Cryderman of Peterborough, ON and loving friend Barb Hickson of Toronto, ON and forever caregiver andf friend Elena Ventura and long time friend and business partner Ed Scheck, and devoted associate Mary Wan. Ken is a graduate of Huron University College at the University of Western Ontario and has been in practice since 1973. Ken served a wide range of entrepreneurial businesses and not-for-profit and charitable organizations. He is a member of the Applications Committee of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario, the Bridge and Executive Committee (Treasurer) of the Canadian Power and Sail Squadrons (North York) (Not-For-Profit), the Fitness Institute, and a Member/Director/Treasurer of the Executive Committee of Innovators Alliance (Not-For-Profit), an organization of Ontario’s Leading Growth firms. Active member of the Lung Association and recent recipient and supporter of Toronto General Hospital Transplant Unit. When not in the office, Ken enjoyed being on the water, on his bike, his family, friends, or driving the country roads in his ’68 Cougar convertible. Ken will be forever in the hearts of many people whose lives he has touched with his humour and kindness. Visitation will be held at the Thompson Funeral Home, 530 Industrial Parkway South, (northeast corner Yonge St. and Industrial Pkwy. S.), Aurora, on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8pm Funeral service in the Chapel on Monday at 11am followed by a celebration of Ken’s life at DiNardo’s Mansion, 400 Industrial Pkwy. S., Aurora. Interment in Spring Creek Cemetery, 1390 Clarkson Rd. N., Mississauga, on Tuesday at 11am.
