February 21, 1929 - November 2, 2022
With peace, grace, and surrounded by the love of family, Catharine began her journey “home” November 2, 2022 at Southlake Regional Health Center’s Pallative Care Unit in Newmarket. Catharine was in her 94th year.
Catharine will be dearly missed, lovingly remembered and always respected by her daughter, Tracy Elizabeth Reynolds, and her daughter-in-law, Katie Keating. Her memory will be deeply cherished by her sister and best friend, Marilyn Johnson, and brothers Father Ted (Edward) Johnson and Paul Johnson (Sally). Catharine was a caring sister-in-law to Christine Johnson, Mary Johnson, and Barry and Sandy Reynolds. Catharine will be fondly remembered by her 20 nieces and nephews and their families.
Awaiting Catharine’s “arrival” is her late, great husband, William Roy Reynolds (2010), her Mother, Catharine Josephine Johnson (nee Morrison), and her Father, John Joseph Johnson. She was predeceased by brothers Allan Johnson, Dr. Ronald Johnson, Dr. Bud (James) Johnson (Janet) and Jack (Francis) Johnson. Catharine will also be reunited with niece and Goddaughter, Andrea Johnson, nephew Brent Johnson, and nieces Tania and Christine Johnson.
Catharine was one of 8 children born and raised on the family dairy farm in Parkhill, Ontario. She moved to London and, later, Toronto, where she met and married husband Bill. Their adventures took them abroad, and some of Catharine’s most treasured moments were spent living in Geneva, Switzerland, and travelling the globe with Bill and Tracy. Catharine was an awesome mother, mother-in-law, wife, and favourite aunt. She avidly enjoyed a lively duplicate bridge game (she once played with Omar Sharif) or round of golf.
Please join the family for a Funeral Mass to honour Catharine’s life and legacy on November 12, 2022 at 1:00pm at St. John Chrysostom Catholic Church, 432 Ontario St., Newmarket, with a reception catered by the Catholic Women’s Auxiliary to follow at the Parish Hall.
Catharine will be laid to rest at the Bornish St. Columba Roman Catholic Cemetery in Bornish, Ontario during a private, family graveside service.
Catharine’s family would like to thank Dr. Katie Mulhern and the Palliative Care Team at Southlake Regional Health Center for the extraordinarily compassionate care they provided with great dignity during Catharine’s final days.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.ThompsonFH-Aurora.com for the Reynolds family.
