It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michael Grinton, who left us at the age of 41 after a courageous 2-year battle with a rare neurological condition. A beloved father, son, brother, and friend, Mike touched the lives of many with his kindness, humor, and boundless energy.
As a dedicated father to his three boys, Reid, Logan and Dexter, Mike found joy in coaching their sports teams and spending time with them. He was always active, whether he was running 5k’s or being the most competitive member of any team, he always encouraged those around him to live life to the fullest and not to take things so seriously. His love for his children was immeasurable, and he always made sure to show them how to be kind, strong, and resilient.
Mike worked for the TTC, a job he loved, and was often heard talking about returning to his bus route. Even during his illness, his sense of humor never wavered, and he continued to make those around him laugh, offering light even in the darkest of times. His strength and optimism, even in the face of adversity, were a testament to the incredible person he was.
Mike leaves behind his kids, Reid, Logan and Dexter, his loving mother, Helen; father, Gary (Judy); his sister, Katie (Jimmy, Mason & Jacob); step siblings, cousins, and a wide circle of friends and extended family who will forever cherish his memory. He will be remembered for his humour, his ability to light up a room, and the love he shared with all of us.
Rest in peace, dear Mike. You will be deeply missed, but your spirit will live on in our hearts forever.
