In life to find friends that you can always count on, trust and know you can lean on unequivocally is special and to be treasured. Paola was one of these friends to us.  

Growing up as neighbours, our 45 years of friendship was filled with a lifetime of fond memories and we became more like sisters than just friends. Paola was the true matriarch of our group and continued as such through all of our ups and downs.  Through life’s journeys, twists and turns friendships grow and change.  We spent all our time together as young kids, navigated our teens years together and into adulthood with our families and as life got busier, we continued to share our most cherished moments over coffee, dinner or a walk together.  Our time chatting over the years was as if no time had passed. 

Paola was beautiful to the core and would always greet you with the most brilliant smile and bright eyes, our times together were always filled with love, laughter, joy and celebration of each other's lives.  She remained true to who she was for all these years, a most special and wonderful person.  Her genteel caring nature is a legacy to the wonderful family she raised and will always be with. 

There are so many memories we will treasure and we will forever have you in our hearts and miss you always.

Aiden and I first met Marissa through Muhammad a little over a decade ago. Marissa is the sort of person that you meet who you instantly know is special. She’s a beautiful person who radiates kindness, good energy, and positivity everywhere she goes. A few months later, Marissa proudly introduced us to her mother Paola, then it all made sense. 

It wasn’t long before our families wanted Paola and Walter at every function, every birthday, and every celebration. They were even regular attendees at my brother, Petros’,  jazz gigs in Toronto. 

Years later, Paola was consistently checking in on us through pregnancies, labours, and postpartum. When she met our kids, she greeted them with amazing food, dessert, hospitality, and toys (expertly chosen with her background in early childhood education) that we play with every single day. She would also hold and play with them while we ate multiple servings of whatever delicious creation that her and Walter had cooked for us. 

Paola introduced us to a level of kindness that was unprecedented and relentless. Her strength, stamina, and positive mindset will never be forgotten by us or anyone who knew her. 

Paola will be on our minds at every Greek Easter. She will be the first person we think of when our kids find a new game with the magna-tiles she gave us, or when we put an onion under their beds to get rid of a cough. When we think about how to support a friend or how to host an amazing party we will ask ourselves what Paola would do. 

We will miss Paola so much and will be forever saddened by how early she was taken from her family. We take comfort in the fact that her wonderful character lives on in her children Nick, Chiara, son in law Muhammad, and of course her daughter Marissa and granddaughter Karina. 

Paola thank you for being our friend. We will miss you.

Paola was my cousin.  Growing up, I referred to her as my big cousin Paola.  Even though we were 7 years apart, you would never know it.  She included me in everything.  Because of her, I had the fondest memories growing up.

Every so often, I tell my children how lucky I was growing up with great cousins. Paola was truly a great cousin!  She was caring, smart, energetic, beautiful and a selfless human being.  One of our last conversations that took place was on Mother's Day and she demonstrated that.   Knowing the pain and suffering she was going through, she put it aside to concern herself about me and my family.

Thank you Paola, along with your siblings and parents for giving me the best childhood a younger cousin could ask for.   You will always have a special place in my heart.

I will cherish the memories we shared forever!

Words are simply not enough to completely understand the immense loss I and my family feel from the loss of this beautiful woman.
She brought so much happiness and joy into everyone's lives, a complete ray of sunshine; bright, illuminating & warm. 
There was always a smile on Paola's face, her face lit up the room when she walked in..

From kids growing up at our family's cottage to working along side me in our family's business to having her be part of my wedding party, there are so many happy and fond memories I have of her.

Paola always made time out of her very busy schedule to get together with me, whether it was a fast lunch on her break at school or on her way home to stop in to have a friendly chat, or calling me on her way to wherever she was going, she made a point to find that time to laugh, to talk or just because.
She was a people person and I loved that about her.
Paola & I, we connected, we understood each other.
We shared thoughts and ideas and she always had an extra news flash on the natural and healthy lifestyle which she shared with me extensively.

And when she became a nonna, she was exuberant, we compared notes and shared stories and lots of pics. 
It was another milestone in her life that she loved so much.

Paola will be remembered for her happiness and the pure joy she brought to others. That is who and what she was all about, Positivity and strength!!

Paola will always have a special place in my heart and will truly be missed and never forgotten.

I have been struggling to write a note, as I truly am at a loss for words. I can’t make sense of this colossal loss. Paola’s smile and light would fill a room, and her presence was felt at every function. 

Growing up next door to my lovely cousins, Paola was always the one to take care of us and make sure we were all doing well. Her positive attitude always made you feel like everything would turn out just fine. I have so many memories spent at the cottage, where Paola was always up for a run or power walk. I’ve always enjoyed my chats with Paola over the years, sharing healthy recipes and talking about our families. 
 
I always remember the special bond between Paola and our Nonna; she often stayed with Nonna to keep her company, which again shows her beautiful, giving personality. They are now reunited, angels watching over their families. 
 
Marissa, Nicholas, and Chiara, there is so much of your beautiful mother’s light, spirit, and energy within you, and the world is a better place for it. May you cherish the memories forever.

The time we spent together will never seem enough, there will always be a longing in my heart for another day, hour, minute together. I will miss your smile and laughter. I will miss your ability to see the positive in every situation. I will miss your warmth and kindness. I will miss how you were able to find a purpose for all things discarded by others.  I  will miss your teaching, parenting and healthy eating tips. I will remember and keep you alive in my thoughts, words and actions. Forever and always, you are treasured.

You are my cousin, my blood, but you are my friend by choice, a best friend. We grew up together from babies to adults, with so many wonderful memories I will never forget. You were my biggest fan and I will miss our get-togethers and your unconditional love and support. When friendship leaves us through death, we feel cheated in life. Life doesn’t play fair, so I vow to win the game for both of us. Your beautiful soul will never be forgotten as you are a bright light of love for so many. As I read all the beautiful memories that friends and family have written, I see one commonality...Paola was extraordinary! She touched so many lives and I am so fortunate to have been able to call her my friend.  She was and will always be my bestfriend, my person.  Paola is my angel now, she is the butterfly in my backyard, the bird that sings at my window, she will always be with me in my heart!

Paola and I grew up on the same street and met when we were practically babies.  We met, became friends and have been best friends ever since!  Even when "Life" got in the way, we managed to keep in touch, our Christmas visits, summer bbq's, or just a simple text to say "Hey, how are you?"

My childhood memories were basically living at Paola's house.  It was the fun house, the house with fun siblings, the house with fun cousins, the house with lots of games and toys in the crawl space, the house where we made licorice and mini sugar donut necklaces and ate them, the house with the best snacks, the house where we studied together and laughed together, the house where I took my first photo with my then boyfriend and now husband...I was always at Paola's house.  

We both got married and had children and created more wonderful memories together.  Summer days in the pool, smores by the fireplace, Christmas dinners together (Walter's famous eggplant Parm), birthday parties for the kids, always together and surrounded by love and laughter and of course Paola's healthy treats! 

I, along with my husband and children will treasure all the wonderful memories we created together.   I will try to live in your footsteps...always positive, always kind, always caring, always smiling.

On behalf of my parents, siblings, sister-in-law & brother- in-law, and all our children, we are very saddened and our hearts are broken to have lost Paola. Paola has been the rock of our family ever since we were kids. When we were little, we laughed and played together. She was our role model who we always looked up to, our cheerleader who we always counted on to ensure we got what we wanted, our confidant who we could share our secrets with. She is, and will always be, the best big sister and her presence will truly be missed. She will be remembered as a selfless, kind, generous, and caring family member who put everyone’s needs above her own. We are amazed at the amount of family, friends, colleagues and former students who came to pay their respects to Paola and we were so thankful to have heard all the wonderful memories and stories shared by all. It’s a true testament that she touched the lives of so many and we are so proud to call her our daughter, sister and Zia. Together, let’s hold onto those never-forgotten stories and memories we have of Paola and how she's been an important part of not only her families' lives, but all who knew her.  Even though she is no longer with us, her beautiful soul will forever be etched in all of our hearts and will be a part of us every day.

Paola was a truly selfless person, always putting others before herself. Reflecting on her life after her passing, I realize the profound impact she had on me and everyone around her through her generosity and compassion. She has left me with cherished memories.

When I was around four or five years old, I loved visiting Walter and Paola's house to build Legos with my cousin Nicholas. I was completely obsessed with Legos back then. The following year, Paola and Walter surprised me with a huge Lego Star Wars set for my birthday. I was over the moon. It was so big that my mom had to help me put it together. This memory holds a special place in my heart from my childhood.

During Thanksgiving, Christmas, or Easter gatherings at Nonna’s house, my cousins and I would build pillow forts together, creating lasting memories of laughter, creativity, and the joy of family togetherness. I remember how Zio and Zia gifted me a crazy forts toy as a present.  I feel incredibly fortunate that Paola gave me gifts that strengthened my bond with my cousins during my childhood. Her warmth and love were central to our family gatherings, making each moment special and unforgettable. Paola's encouragement of our creativity brought my cousins and I closer together with her loving spirit.

Paola's selflessness and golden heart were truly remarkable. Her impact as a wife, mother, sister, Zia, cousin, friend, and teacher is deeply felt by all who knew her. While her passing has left a void in our hearts, her spirit lives on through Marissa, Nicholas, and Chiara.

Marissa, Nicholas, and Chiara, I'm proud to have you as cousins. You are all so smart, accomplished, and beautiful people. I am so proud to see how you embody your mother’s wonderful qualities. 

Moving forward, I hope to embody the traits of kindness, selflessness and love that Paola exemplified. She has left an indelible mark on our family. 

Zia Paola, may you rest in peace.

Family meant everything to Paola, and she poured her love into every moment spent with loved ones. She had a knack for bringing everyone together - whether it was organizing lively gatherings filled with laughter, sharing stories, or simply enjoying each others company. Her presence felt like a cozy embrace that we will forever hold dear.

Dear Paola, 

To lose you is a huge loss for many. Strong, beautiful, selfless, caring, uplifting and supportive are just a few of the attributes that describe you. Thank you for being the first one to suggest taking a family photo. You’ve captured many picture perfect moments.

Our families have so many wonderful memories together that I will cherish for the rest of my life. You were always there with open arms welcoming us into your home. You and Walter loved hosting and we loved being there. Our family gatherings won’t end here. We will always stay connected in honour of you. Karina and Léila will grow up together, and we will tell them about the special moments we all shared. They will have so many photographs to look at! 

Thank you for the endless sleepovers, your delicious baking, taking me to my first Blue Jays game, helping me with my assignments that I didn’t understand, and never judging me when I made some silly mistakes in my teen years. 

You are one of a kind, and you will live on in our hearts for eternity. I know you’re watching over us. You were a real life Angel here on earth and now you’re our guardian Angel up above. You’ve touched the hearts of everyone who knew you. Thank you for everything Paola.

We were so saddened to hear about Paola. You have captured her character perfectly in the obituary. She was truly a kind, loving soul.
She was far too young to leave this earth and there are really no words to make you feel better. Cherish your wonderful memories of her and know that she will always be your guardian angel. We are sorry that we cannot attend the service or the funeral as we are away but please know that you are in our thoughts.

Dearest Paola,
You were the best sister-in-law and zia anyone could have asked for. Our hearts are broken. I will cherish all the fun family times we had together gathered around a dining room table. From your knowledge on everything teaching (reading), pilates, and healthy food. We will miss the cookies you always brought to our family functions. You always managed to make oats and almond flour be the bomb. I will forever cherish our trip to St. Anne Spa. No rain could cancel our parade. Where you could have run all the fitness and health sessions. I will also treasure all our Mother’s Day outings. You raised 3 beautiful children inside and out. They are an inspiration for my kids. But most importantly, I will miss the constant texts we had. You were always so readily available and a constant support. You made being a sister-in-law and zia look effortless. I thank you for the time we had together.

My sincere condolences to Walter and family for your loss. I’ll always be grateful for the natural and easy way Paola welcomed me to Aurora and made me part of her circle of friends and family. The tireless and generous way she gave of herself leaves a beautiful example to everyone lucky enough to have known her. We will miss her friendship.

Paola was a wonderful and selfless mother and an amazing friend who I will always miss and mourn. She was always ready to help and give of herself in her uniquely charming and graceful way. She stood by me during difficult times and we shared many happy moments. The advice on food and health, her dinner invitations, the help she so selflessly offered as we raised our kids together…her beautiful smile and warm friendship, I will cherish these forever. Paola you were taken from us far too soon.  My heart goes out to Walter, Marissa, Nicholas, Chiara and the family at this difficult time.  Love and be good to each other as she would have wanted.

We did everything together every day for thirty years.  Our life was focused on raising our children.  Family meals were important to both of us.  Home cooking and conversations around the dinner table.
I miss her so much
She was happy attending all the kids activities dance, hockey and soccer.  We enjoyed walking together.  We enjoyed concerts in the park.  She enjoyed travelling and really enjoyed our cruise trips.
I miss her so much
Paola enjoyed working as a kindergarten teacher and made wonderful friendships with her colleagues.  Some of whom became our closest friends.
I miss her so much
Paola was her happiest when we were hosting dinners on Saturday nights with our closest friends and family.  We had our favourite tv shows that we enjoyed watching together.
Doing everything with her every day was all I wanted and all I ever needed.
