It is with sadness that we announce our dear father’s passing with family by his side at the age of 86. One of Toronto’s top litigators at Blaney McMurtry, Richard extended his skills into fields both academic and artistic. Awarded Queen’s Council early in his career, he cemented his reputation by writing the definitive textbook on corporate insurance law in Ontario.
In addition, in what little spare time his work allowed, Richard, under the stage name Kovsky, appeared in a Grand Bend production of Jitters and played the recurring role of Michelle’s father on DeGrassi High, earning him an unexpected coterie of fans outside of the courtroom. When not applying his talents to mediation with ADR Chambers, his passionate devotion to golf late in life resulted in three documented instances of holes-in-one.
Survived by his loving life partner, Katy Ginn, his children, Caroline and Andrew, and brother Albert and family, he will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all for his kindness and humour.
In his memory, remember his favourite charity, The Scott Mission.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Summit Country Club, Richmond Hill on September 29th at 2 pm., words at 3pm.
