Hi Rosy
Jamie and I were shocked and deeply saddened when we got back from the east and read your email about Rick's passing. Rick was my mentor when I first decided to get into river guiding and we logged alot of miles together. I hope you can take some measure of comfort in the knowledge that Rick touched and enhanced the lives of so many people both in and outside of the rafting community. You are in our prayers Rosy.

Dear Rosy, I am so sad to here of Rick's passing. I have many good memories of the trade shows that Rick and I attended together when he represented for AIRE Mfg.  We will all miss Rick as he brought so much joy to any meeting.  He spent his life teaching others how to enjoy life.

Rosy, we were both saddened to hear of Rick's passing. One of our fondest family memories is staying for a month in Rick's house in Jasper.  Our thoughts are with you today.

My deep condolences Rosy. I was one of many raft guides that Rick mentored and showed generosity to. Working for him gave us many wonderful experiences and set quite a few on a path that led to great things. He has that legacy and I hope that gives you some comfort.

I first met Rick 40 years ago when he convinced me that I did not need days off and should be rafting with him on those days.
Thus began a remarkable friendship. He was no ordinary guy and we had many extraordinary times together in several countries.

hi rosy - our rivers are running a bit high, perhaps adding their own tears to the meltwater flow for this loss of one of jasper's river-running pioneers. kennedy's 'paddle oar die' graces countless t-shirts around the world, an international legacy of thrilling, whitewater memories for MRA's clients. he could make me laugh like no other, gave the best hugs, enjoyed soaking the heck out of me when i was in his boat, showed up the young guys when it was time to shotgun a beer and always had a twinkle in his eye. gosh, I liked him a lot! years ago kennedy said you were the throw-bag in his life - a paddler's lifeline to safety. my best to you rosy. love, su.

Wow! Our immortality just hit a brick wall and that concept is  both sobering & unacceptable!

A fun loving, serendipity man.  Patti and I have great memories of Rick from McGill through Jasper and through our son, JP, guiding for him on the AthaB and Maligne.  Of course, there were the great times the four of us had in Jasper, drinking wine first and foremost, but playing golf as well.  We were so pleased and happy to meet and get to know you, the true love of his life, and having a blast at your wedding.  If only we could have continued the camaraderie, but for geography and other life, which gets in the way.
It was GREAT seeing him at the 100th anniversary of McGill PhysEd this last September, we laughed a bunch again.
Our deepest, heartfelt sympathies; no condolences are enough to assuage your loss.

It is with a sad heart that I write this condolence.  The rivers of the world have lost a true rafter.  Rick loved life and it loved him back for many good years.  His best were when he met and married you, Rosy.  Carol and I will always have a special place in our memories of the good times we had with Rick.  Our thoughts are with you at this difficult time.

Over the years we did not get to see each other as often as we would have liked, Life got in the way, but our friendship and our love of all sporting activities carried on. We are so sorry for your loss., Rosy. Rick was a man who knew what love was and how to share it. A generous gorgeous gracious soul. “A long, long , time ago- I can still remember…” rafting with him in in NZ in the 5 man raft on grade 5 rapids, he'd command- HOLD ON! While everyone else was holding on, he'd still be rowing to keep us alive. I bet that's what he's doing right now. His famous saying was ‘paddle or die'. He's still paddling! We love you Rick.

Darren and I send our love to you Rosie, Rick was an awesome man and we learned a lot from him, my favorite memory was him coming up behind me at our wedding and kissing me on the back and telling me how pretty I looked while twirling me around.
