Following in her mother's (Jean Maunsell) footsteps, Susan completed her degree in nursing at George Brown College in 1979. Subsequently Susan worked as a nurse at Mt. Sinai, Wellesley, Sunnybrook, and North York General hospital, specializing in the burn-unit, oncology, and ICU.
Susan was a lifetime caregiver, dividing her life between her grueling nursing schedule, her family, and friends. She was a devoted mother who strived to ensure that her children had every opportunity to grow and explore the world, and raised them to appreciate life, aesthetically, emotionally, and physically.
Her cooking was renowned. Family, friends, and acquaintances would gather to taste her signature dishes, from delicious roast beefs, chicken Kiev, fresh breads, to her world-famous cinnamon buns.
In the years before her retirement, Susan discovered a love of scuba diving, achieving a divemaster certification and making many friends among the local dive community.
Susan is survived by her children Arwynn, and Breandan, her sister Shelley, and her grandson Davyn.
Susan will be remembered for her unwavering commitment to social justice, her dedication to those under her care as a nurse, and her family.
