My favourite teacher. I have wondered where he was all this time. RIP Mr. Gluck

I grew up across the street from Terry he was one of a group friends that use to hang out together.  I have many fond memories of out times together. He well be sorely missed I’m sure.

Today, it has been 3 years since you have passed. I miss you every day and think about you.  When the family gets together we talk about you and all of our shared memories.  Sierra has a baby now and I wish you could have met him. You would have been a wonderful Great Uncle!  Until we meet again, Love Judy

My childhood friend who also attended WHCI just messaged me to share this news. I had no idea that Mr. Gluck transitioned. I never had him for a single class and so he would not have known me. But I knew of him through the raving reviews from my friends who were his students. I also knew of him because even though I am 39 years old and was at WHCI 20 years ago, it feels like yesterday I would see him walking down the halls and I still remember his hair and lab coat. I sat here and read through the notes that people have left - former students, friends and family, and it was heartwarming to read and it made me realize how important is to give people their flowers while they are still with us on earth. Having said that, I hope he felt the love and appreciation from everyone in his life while he was still with us and if he is able to see any of these messages, I hope it puts a smile on his face. I am sending my heartfelt condolences to anyone who is mourning his passing. I am sure he is resting in power! xo  

I don't know any of Mr Gluck's family....usually didn't get the opportunity to know our teachers on that level, but, I know he was a really cool character. He wasn't in the habit of putting up with any foolishness, and fortunately, I wasn't the kind of student given to misbehaving or giving the teachers a hard time in High School, and I got along well with Mr Gluck. I only found out about his passing 2day, so many months later. I wish I could shake hands, give hugs, express my feelings in person. I didn't know him like his family, not nearly, but I knew him well enough - he was enough of a positive force on my teenaged self that I miss him, and as recently as the last few days he was on my mind. I hold them good ole days close in my thoughts. I'm sorry for your loss, and I know you closest to him have much more memories to keep close in mind.

My condolences to his family and friends. I was one of his students. Math and science were beyond me....but I showed up and tried. I barely passed, but it was an improvement.
Educators such as he should be cloned. He was amazing at his life's work.
I hope he knew the difference he made in thousands of peoples lives. He will be missed.

Wish Mr Gluck would’ve lived forever. He was the most brilliant teacher I’ve ever had.

My condolences to his family. He was the  best teacher at WHCI. Always talked about him when school memories came up with my own kids and friends.  May it be known that he did leave a mark on most of his students and will never be forgotten. May he RIP. 

Mr.Gluck was the best high school teacher ever. He is one of a kind, and actually taught us what we would look forward to in the real world. As a matter of fact, there are some things that he taught me, that I pass down and use almost every day when running my business and used to help motivate my kids to success. He will never be forgotten, and his teaching will forever live on. ❤️ 

Mr Gluck was my favorite teacher in high-school. He was smart and energetic and when debates or interesting conversations arouse, he would put away the books and lead the discussion. We had to make up what we missed on our own but it was always worth. He was a great guy.

I am so sorry to hear of Mr Gluck's passing. He was my favourite teacher at West Hill from 81 to 84 - always so entertaining! May he rest in peace.

Mr. Gluck was my Biology teacher when I attended West Hill Collegiate in the late '70's.  I remember him being a warm, enthusiastic, intelligence man who made attending class something I looked forward to. My sincere condolences to his family and friends. 


Mr. Gluck was my absolute favourite teacher at West Hill!  Many years later, I met him again at the reunion and he remembered me and my sense of humour.  He always made learning so much fun and was a much loved teacher.  My sincere condolences to his family.  Cathy Cameron 

I had no idea that Terry had passed away I just saw the notice today. Terry was my teacher when I attended West Hill see I back in the 80s until this day I still remember him as my favourite teacher. He captivated our classes Filterheadz with wonder and made science so much fun. Many years later when I have children of my own I ran into him again and we had a wonderful conversation about how the way he taught and how generous he was with his students Opened our eyes to interview with the world. My deepest heartfelt condolences to his family. He will be thought of often and miss dearly.

Mr. Gluck was one of THE most inspiring, fun, effective and true teachers I have ever had in my life.  I last had the opportunity to be his student in 1993.  I've had 10 years of post secondary education, after West Hill CI, with many world renowned professors, both in Canada and the US, and not one of them can reach the bar that he set.  I had the wonderful opportunity to tell him this, when I joined the dental practice (in Scarborough), at which he was  patient.  I was looking forward to having many more conversations with him.  This world has lost one of the greats.  Thank you Mr. Gluck.  

So sorry to hear of Mr. Gluck's passing. He was a wonderful teacher. My heart goes out to his family.

Terry was the finest teacher that I ever studied under. I maintained contact with him for several years after graduation and enjoyed seeing him on the ski slopes.

Mr. Gluck was one of my favorite teachers at West Hill. He left a lasting impact on every student. Blessings to his Soul and to his family.

My sincerest condolences. I had the distinct good fortune to have Mr. Gluck for several classes at WHCI. He was the best teacher ever. He genuinely made learning so much fun.  

I recently spoke to Terry following an e-mail i sent him. My message was to convey to him the last words of one of his students when at WHCI. The student , Paul Von Zuben spoke of Terry as an all-time greatest science teacher.He described in detail Terry's teaching characteristics and techniques at the blackboard, Terry's unbounding energy and kind thoughtful approach toward those students under his care. 
I feel privileged to have been on the same teaching staff as Terry Gluck, a man for all seasons for what seemed like a long time.

Almost 60 years of active, comfortable friendship and time well spent. Will miss the laughter forever.

It is said you die twice. The first time when your body dies and the next time, the last time your name is spoken. Share stories. Laugh. 

I have been a friendOfTerry’s since the1970’s when we taught together .. We shared many a ski day together in such places asBlue Mountain  , Mont SteAnne  , LakeTahoe andSnowbirdUtah . I remember some great dinner parties hosted byTerry andGayle . In retirement years  Terry andI shared four trips toCuba as well as a few trips toMexico. I considerTerry to be the most intellectually gifted of my friends and we shared some great conversations over the years. Having lived with Terry for 10 years as his wife there are a number of things I would like to share.   Even though we separated  in 1987, we remained friends.  His students not only loved him, but many had told me over the years, that he was the best teacher they ever had.  Quite a testament to his ability as a teacher.  He and I spent many years skiing together and we returned many times to his favorite ski resort - Lake Tahoe which spanned the Nevada, California border.  He was an avid lover of Natural History and particularly loved Stephen J. Gould whose essays piqued his intellectual curiosity.  He liked to consider himself an intellectual and was a member of MENSA.  There are way too many stories but he will remain in my heart as one of my dear friends in life.   I will miss you very much Terry.

Terry was my best friend. We grew up around the corner from each other in Leaside and spent our teenage years with our respective mothers telling us not to hang around together. After over 60 years their admonishments haven’t seemed to work. As well as the above noted activities, Terry also liked road trips, F1 racing, backpacking in the Rockies, and especially skiing in the Rockies. I’ll miss his yearly visits. I know my friends and I will get together, tell Terry stories, and remember our friend. Good bye my friend, I’ll miss you.

My Uncle Terry was truly a one-of-a-kind individual. His presence will be sorely missed not only by myself, but also by our family and his many friends. 

So many great visits with Terry & his buddies over the years. We laughed until our sides hurt, listened to lots of great music, enjoyed many conversations. His devotion to his teaching was in character with his curious mind. Sympathies to Judy, Andrew & girls. Rest well Terry.

So sad to see Terry pass. He was agreat brother in law sharing family vacations and holidays with.  We also shared our great passion for skiing together. Discussions about world events were also always very engaging around the diner table. Terry always had a unique prospective on things and certainly had no patience for the obvious, lol. Things he took interest in often caught us off guard but always would bring a new prospective to making us rethink and go hmmmm. Terry will be sadly missed by myself, his sister Judy and his two niece's Sierra and Jessie. Thoughts and Prayers are with you Terry.

Terry was my big brother who shared all of our childhood memories with family and friends in Leaside. I will miss him always. All my love until we meet again, your sister Judy.💕
