February 5, 1932 – November 1, 2016
Adele died peacefully in her sleep at age 84 in Austin, Texas during Game 6 of the Chicago Cubs World Series.
Adele was born in Chicago, the youngest of 5 siblings and her late husband, Louis Czepiel, was the youngest of 8. They married in 1950 and had 3 sons, Len, Mike and Don (aka: Leonardo, Michelangelo and Donatello). They enjoyed cheering on the Chicago Cubs and Bears teams and travelling with their family. They lived for many years in Justice, Illinois before retiring and moving to Lufkin, Texas in 1986. Adele relocated to Austin from Lufkin in 2014 to be close to family due to health issues.
Adele loved to laugh, liked afternoon tea time, was quite artistic, enjoyed birds and her cats and dog (Nico) and had a great Irish sense of humor. During her last two years, she bravely battled dementia and lived in an assisted living center. Adele never lost her unique sense of humor or forgot any of her jokes. And she always wore a beautiful smile.
Adele is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law: Leonard and Barbara Czepiel of Falcon, Colorado, Michael and Patricia Czepiel of Austin, Texas, and Donald Czepiel of Sugar Grove, Illinois. Her grandchildren: Tara, Nicholas, Candace, and Caitlin Czepiel and Jennifer Elliott of Illinois; Bonnie Czepiel of Florida; MSgt David Czepiel of Alabama; Sgt Daniel and PJ Czepiel, Jeremy and Denise Czepiel, Joshua Czepiel, Megan and Rodney Jeter, Colleen Czepiel, Michael Griffith, and Julia Griffith of Texas; and Alex Griffith of Wisconsin. And 16 great-grandchildren: Samuel, Sonorah, Tyler, Ryan, Jessica, Lauren; Christian, Mya, Kobe, Kiana, Ethan, Dakota, Damian, Noah, Maci, and Aiden.
She is also survived by her sister Lorraine Klouzer of Lyons, Illinois. Sisters-in-law Loretta Hunter of Palos Park, Illinois and Becky Czepiel of Portage, Wisconsin. And many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her dear husband Louis Czepiel of Chicago and Lufkin, Texas; her parents John and Sylvia (nee Brezinsky) Hunter of Chicago, Illinois; and her brothers Robert Hunter, Elmer Hunter, and Thomas Hunter of Illinois.
The family is grateful for the kind and loving care of Parsons House and Colonial Gardens of Austin.
The Family will receive visitors at a Memorial Gathering and Reception in celebration of Adele’s life on Saturday, November 19, 2016, 11:00 a.m., at Cook Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar, in Austin. Interment will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park, Forest Park, Illinois at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you contribute in Adele’s honor to an elderly service organization or charity of your choice.
We love you more.
Rest in Peace.
