Ai-Chen Lou Tsao, 90, passed away this Monday morning, July 19th, 2010. She was surrounded by her faith and her family. Ai-Chen was born in Longyou, Zhejiang, China but had made Austin her home for the past 28 years where she happily lived with her husband, General Shu-Ping Tsao. Married for 61 years from 1942, Ai-Chen and Shu-Ping were entirely devoted to each other and to their many children. Grandma Tsao was the unsung hero of the family, a matriarch who exemplified resilience, joy and elegance. Her faith in the Lord is a living testament which is still felt today; even with seven children she never failed to share the Gospel and emanate the radiance of God's grace. Whether it was helping the less fortunate or establishing a neighborhood Church, Ai-Chen led a life of generous giving and joyful service. One of her favorite Bible passages was 1 Corinthians 13: "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails." Ai-Chen was the pillar to her husband, foundation of her children and above all, a dedicated servant to her Lord. Her laughter will always ring in our ears, her lessons will remain embroidered on our hearts, and her blessings will continue to shower us in our lives. Grandma Tsao is survived by six daughters, one son, 16 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren, who are all privileged to have spent time with her and learned from her. Viewing and visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, July 22nd, 2010 at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar. A Funeral service is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in the Cook-Walden Funeral Home Chapel.
