

Al moved to Austin in 1950 to attend the University of Texas. He worked as a bookkeeper at Reed Music Company, and as a salesman at Western Auto and Sears. He retired from Sears in 1987.
He is survived by Bobbie, his wife of 22 years; sons Buster White and Jimmy Tyler and their families, Linda, Garrett, and Erin White and Debbie, Chris Gilbert, Megan, and Ross Tyler; his step-children Tina Hollowell, Howard and Wiley Williams and their families; brother-in-law, Jesse Louis Overton; sister-in-law Virginia White; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Al was predeceased by his parents Labe White and Erna Gooding, his wife of 37 years, Doris McElrath White, his brother, George White, and his sister-in-law, Mary Lou Overton.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Christopher House for their care and encouragement.
Graveside services will be provided by Rev. Edwin Salvant on May 2, 2011 at 3:30 in the afternoon at the Cook Walden/Memorial Hill Cemetery.
