Born in New York City, NY on February 13, 1930, Alexander was the only son of Alexander James Tarcz (Sr.) and Gizella Bizderi Tarcz.
Raised in Woodbridge, New Jersey Alexander attended his elementary and high school education there and served as drum major in the high school band. In his youth, Alex was an active member of the Boy Scouts and achieved Eagle Scout status.
Throughout his life, Alexander enjoyed playing golf and he even played one hole of golf with the great golfer, Sam Snead, at a celebrity golf game. Alex, as his friends called him, also enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening with great exuberance and love for the great outdoors whether at the beach or in the mountains. His love for the outdoors was only exceeded by his love of music and love for his wife, Jean O’Connor Tarcz, and daughter, Lorna Tarcz-Harrison.
Alexander met the love of his life, Jean, during a Christmas break from his studies at the University of Alabama. It was love at first sight. They dated for four years and subsequently married and had been joyously married for 72 years until his passing.
Interested in all things science related, Alexander had great passion for his work in chemical research and development. His work led him to live in New Jersey, Louisiana and in retirement Alexander and Jean relocated to Texas to join their only child, Lorna Tarcz-Harrison
Alexander, who suffered from Parkinson’s, passed away peacefully at home while looking at the wildlife in the pond outside his window and surrounded by Jean and Lorna.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alexander James Tarcz(Sr,) and Gizella Bizderi Tarcz, and his sister, Florence Tarcz-Garay.
