Alice Katherine Patterson Oestrick went home to be with the Lord Thursday, July 7, 2022. She was born in Travis County on October 23, 1929. Patterson Road, Grace Lane, and Oestrick Lane bear her family names.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents Ross and Ruby Patterson, her husband of 64 years Bill Oestrick, son Michael Oestrick and great-granddaughter Michaela Oestrick.
Alice is survived by daughters Judy Kaufman (Kim) Carolyn Warren (Wayne) sisters Grace Lenz and Jerry Burklund Brothers Stephen Patterson, Rodney Patterson grandchildren; Melody Self, Vashti, Mann, Rebecca Aguilar, Jon Warren, Dace Warren, and William Oestrick, and 26 great grandchildren.
Ken Roberts interviewed her for the book “Cedar Choppers Living On The Edge Of Nothing” and quoted her several times. We all have special memories of family gatherings at the Buchanan Dam lake house she shared with her husband Bill. She was a gifted seamstress and operator of Alice & Carolyn’s Decorating with her daughter until retirement. She traveled with her family to Hawaii and made it to the top of Diamondhead at the age of 82.
We extend our appreciation to the staff of Park Manor Bee Cave and to Resolution Hospice. A visitation will be on Tuesday, July 12, 2020, from 5 PM to 8 PM at Cook-Walden North Lamar, at 6100 N. Lamar, Austin, Texas. Service will be held Wednesday, July 13, 2022, at Cook-Walden, North Lamar. Interment will follow at Alan McNeil cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jon Warren, Dace Warren, William Oestrick, Joshua Kaufman, Caleb Larranaga, and Daniel Self. Honorary pallbearers will be Samuel Self, Joel Self, Isaac Larranaga, Michael Self and Gabriel Larranaga.
