Alice Olle Shipley

Alice Olle Shipley was born August 13, 1906 in Del Valle, Travis, County, Texas to Charles F. Olle and Elizabeth Klein Olle. She was a lifelong resident of Austin, Texas. She was married to Otto Shipley, November 24, 1926. They lived in Austin and together reached their 57th wedding anniversary. They had one son, James Olle Shipley. He preceded them in death September 7, 1972. Alice and Otto were members of First United Methodist Church of Austin since 1940. Alice was secretary of the elementary class for over 17 years. Otto was also active in congregational life and served 25 years as steward. Alice was employed October 25, 1922 by the Texas State Highway Dept. She held a variety of positions retiring after 12 years from the accounting department. She was preceded in death by her husband, Otto Shipley; a son, James Olle Shipley; two sisters, Bessie Olle Fischer and Della Olle Schramm; and one brother, Oscar Olle. She is survived by three grandchildren; grandson, Scott Shipley Margraves and his wife Lory of Houston, Texas, granddaughter, Susan Shipley Margraves Anderson and her husband Michael of Weston, Massachusetts, and grandson, Stuart Shipley Margraves of Houston, Texas. Also surviving are six great-grandchildren, Madeline, Melissa and Molly Margraves of Houston, Daniel and Elizabeth Anderson of Weston, and Sarah Margraves of Houston; a number of nieces and one nephew; other relatives and a host of friends. Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, April 12, 2004 at Capital Parks Cemetery in Pflugerville with Rev. John McMullen officiating.
