Allan Robert Wing passed away January 24, 2013. He was born in Oak Park, Illinois on March 13, 1951. He graduated from Memorial Senior High School in Houston, Texas in1969, and attended the University of Houston until moving to California to pursue a drumming career. He returned to Texas and played with a number of bands, including Joy Dome and the Rhythm Slaves, The Electric Pilgrims, and Earth Keepers in Austin. His love of travel and his adventurous spirit led him to become a white water rafting guide in Colorado and Texas. He loved to dance and was involved for years with what is now Dancing Together in Austin. Friends describe him as "kind, strong, compassionate, honorable, full of integrity, one who generously supported and helped those who were in need. He had a unique and witty sense of humor and his presence lighted up the room. He was a spiritual seeker, and lover of peace.
Allan is survived by his sisters, Carolyn McClellan of Gatesville, and Suzanne Boyer of Belton, and by whole communities of friends who considered him family.
There will be a Memorial Service to celebrate his life on Sunday, February 3, at 1101 31st St. Austin, TX at 1:00pm. People will begin to gather at 12:30, and the service will be followed by a pot luck sharing.
