AW - I feel very blessed that I met you dear Alvina, mommy-Bob as I call you:)  I treasure all the fun phone conversations we had over the years, you always made us feel good, never a complaint no matter what. I particularly loved that night when we phoned you to ask about the color of  Bobs baby shoes, they were blues :) How lovely!!! That was so much fun. I will never forget that night we partied at my apartment in Murray Hill with Bob and Victoria, my 2 best friends xoxo You won my heart. I just want to say I love you -   thats forever xoxox I will miss you too.  Thank you for being such a loving, kind and sweet human being. You will always be remembered. Mom, Alvina, you were a little skeptical of compliments but some compliments are not really compliments, they are just the way things are. Thinking of you, of your qualities, I admire so much your quiet grace , your self contained strength, your knowing what you want or what life wants of you and doing it without fanfare or drama. Sometimes with a twinkle in your eye and often a wisecrack, but always graceful and beautiful.  I am filled with love and respect when I think of you now and when you were with us in body as well as spirit. I am so grateful to have spent time with you in this life and so grateful for your nurturing of your children, especially your first born "little Bobby blue shoes". I wasn't around when he was small but was amazed listening to you sing and talk to Jonathan when he was a baby. You drew on all your talents to support and encourage your family without drawing attention to yourself. But because of who you are we all paid attention, and so we shall always. I love thinking of the time you told us about jumping from the second story porch at Wabansia and almost knocking over the "grouch". I love remembering the first time I met you . You were so beautiful, and made everybody pancakes around a huge circular table, and never sat down yourself. I loved helping you make date bars for Christmas and helping with your famous breaded tenderloin. I'll never have apple pancakes without thinking of you. I look forward to being with you again. I know there are more stories and surprises. I give you my love with all my heart.

I loved Grandma E.  I will miss her.  I will miss visiting with her...especially at Christmas time.

Alvina (or Grandma 'E') was a kind and gracious lady, who always made everyone feel welcome in her home, especially during the holidays. She was loved and will be missed by many; it was a delight to know her.

It is so hard to know the right thing to say when we loose someone we know...it is even more so when we loose someone very special to us like Grandma 'E'. She was always so sweet to us and always made us feel included.  We loved her very much and will miss her forever.

I think I loved my mother from the day I was born. I remember her voice singing to me, her fingers stroking my hair. I remember feeling total bliss when she held me and as a young boy when she decorated my bike or made halloween costumes or cooked my favorite cookies or did all the loving things she did I thought it was just normal life, nothing special just what my mother did. As I got older and on my own I saw that not everyone was so lucky. I saw that the deep well of happiness mom and dad gave me was always there with me but that what I took for granted was in fact a gift beyond measure. As I flew to Austin to see my mom for what we both knew would be the last time I kept saying to myself over and over " make sure you tell her how happy you have always been, make sure you do it, make sure you say it " When I finally said it she smiled and said " I know and I'm so lucky to have my family ". That was our mom.

Alvina, or mom to me. My mother was always there for me, no matter what the problem or what my age. The day before her passing she was explaining how I should be encouraged about the future and how to make the best of it. Her commitment to her children never varied and was a major factor in the development of all our characters.
Our families are stronger because of both my mom and dad. We miss their faces every day but their words will be with us forever. Have a well deserved rest.

I was very blessed to have such a wonderful mother and am so thankful I was in a position to help her live her last years in her own home.  I miss her terribly but am at peace knowing she felt she had lived a rich, full and happy life.

I only knew her briefly from the festivities surrounding our son, Daniel Keith's, and his beautiful wife, Samantha Eckholm's wedding, but a classier and more elegant woman you would be hard pressed to find anywhere.  I feel privileged to have known her, even if for so short a time.
Have a wonderful trip to Heaven, Alvina.

Your nurturing support, kindness and laughter will be what I remember most. You celebrated each of your children and grandkids with fierce loyalty and love. I will miss that anytime I asked your opinion, I got your complete honesty, no matter which direction that took. Rest in peace, Mom, much love.

I believe Alvina was my grandmother's cousin.  (My parents are Adolph (deceased) and Virginia Pfeiffer.). I am very sorry for your loss and wish you peace at this difficult time.
