I had the pleasure of working with Andrew as part of KOOP Radio as well as when he was launching WildSpark Technologies, which completely blew my mind. I knew Andrew was intelligent, but I had no idea of the limits! His work ethic and leadership are a bedrock that everyone at KOOP Radio stands upon. His influence on KOOP - and community radio in Austin - will hopefully be felt for decades to come. This photo was from my birthday in 2010. My deepest condolences to Diana, Max and your families.

I am deeply saddened by Andrew’s passing and so very sorry for your loss. His devotion and love for his family was ever present. He was such a kind, gentle, and loving soul. He will live on in Maxwell but his absence will be profoundly felt. We will miss him. 

I am so so so very sorry to hear about Andrew’s passing. Buttercup was very fond of Andrew. He had a calm about him that was contagious. And he was always smiling, also contagious. One of our favorite performances was at the old KOOP with Andrew hosting and we talked and laughed and played song after song for him—the place was hot, maybe the AC was broken—but we were having so much fun that we played and talked for over an hour. I remember feeling emboldened by Andrew's enthusiasm and his sweaty smiling face. He was, as you know, a gem.

I worked on the tech crew at KOOP under Andrew's direction from '07-'11. He was an extremely patient and committed leader. It was pretty clear he was excited to work on the station and he had a lot of passion for it.  
When it came time to rebuild the new studio after the fire, the station had to start over.  It was a hugely daunting task but Andrew led us, complete neophytes, through it step by step.  
He read every page of the literature and tried to teach the rest of us!   
He was an impressive and kind person. It was a pleasure knowing him.  He'll be missed and appreciated.  Condolences to his family and close friends. 

I'm so grateful to have met Andrew through our Leadership Austin 2015 class. He always showed up with a huge heart, warm smile and deep kindness. He lit up when he talked about his family, and had such a passion for KOOP Radio. My heart goes out to all who loved him, and whose lives he touched.

Andrew was my sweet second cousin, a truly brilliant (and yet so very humble) man, an innovator, and a joyful soul to be around. He was so great about reaching out and planning get togethers. I will forever carry his cheerful smile in my mind, cherish our gatherings, and hearing his stories of experiences in the semiconductor/tech space and what he was building in his startup, and hearing tales of his work at KOOP radio station, among many other tales. It was so fun for our immediate family to have extended  family in town to hang out and see the younger generations play together. Andrew will be greatly missed by our family and all of our aunts, uncles, and cousins and extended family. Our prayers and thouhgts are with Paul, Anna, Diana, and little Maxwell. Much Love, always.

I had the good fortune to know Andrew from our service at KOOP Radio and being in the Leadership Austin class of 2015.  I was sad to hear he was sick and was stunned to hear of his passing.  Andrew was a kind, generous, good man, who was there for us all in ways we can't adequately describe.  He was quietly, relentlessly, continuously, steadfastly kind.  A big hearted, big spirited, brilliant man.  He was decent and strong, generous, supportive, and always ready to serve others.    What a bounty to have known him.  I know the world is a better place because of Andrew!  I feel a deep gratitude to have known him.   May God will bless his beautiful soul and bring comfort and solace to his precious family.  

Andrew and I had a lot of classes together in high school. He had a few close friends & was generally shy but we paired up a quite a bit for group assignments so he would open up to me a bit. He was always very nice to me & I considered him a friend and I remember telling him so. I think he was a little taken a back by that and it stuck with me. We went to a very large high school & he self identified as a “nerd” and was shy so it took me a while to  break through but I did. After graduation we had a huge senior party at the Community Center and he attended the event alone. I went with about 8 people yet they had decided to pregame the party with psychedelics and I had no interest in that and I just decided to walk around and see what everyone else was doing. I spent hours and hours hanging out with Andrew at the “casino” table with Andrew. We actually closed the table down hours and hours later just he and I. I never saw him again, I never forgot him and he was the only reason I remember that night ever happened and it’s because we had a blast. I always wondered what happened to him and every few years a dig a bit in Facebook to see if I could find him and a while back I found him, requested and he accepted fairly quickly. I was soooo glad that I could tell he was no longer quite as shy as he was back in the day. I used to call “ Andrewwwww!” Real loud sometimes when I saw him and I did the same via fb. We chatted directly once or twice directly but mostly just “liked” status’s and made funny comments. Andrew was a very good person and I would definitely have called him a friend for the 35 years I’ve known him but we weren’t super  close just memorable because that type of kindness is rare and when you meet someone like that, you don’t forget it. I had a dream last night and I ran into Andrew after all these years. I was so happy to see him and was so relieved the rumor wasn’t true. He kinda smirked in a way that I totally forgot that he did. Andrew was a most interesting person.

As everyone observed, he was devoted to his family – playing games with Maxwell from Candy Land to toy trains to Chess.
He and Diana regularly attended a wide variety of cultural events - Austin Symphony and Ballet Company and Zach Scott Theatre.
That’s a picture of them at the Commodore Perry where Maria and I celebrated their anniversary with them.

Generally a quiet, reflective man, he could be enthusiastic discussing the science and technologies around his work, which overlapped interests of mine.
Technologies he developed and the requirements of projects he and his company contracted were beyond anything I ran across in my usual circles. It was a real treat to talk with him.

On another side of Andrew, his knowledge and appreciation of music was vast.
He was an enthusiastic supporter of KOOP - hosting a regular show there until fatherhood became his focus.
Maria and I attended that last Rolling Stones concert with him, enduring the traffic and a sardine-packed crowd at COA.
He enjoyed a burger at BJ’s or Pappardelle at Olive and June.

He was, in every respect, a good man.

My heart is with Andrew’s family and I am so sorry for your loss. Andrew was one of the coolest guys in our MBA program. I have a super fond memory of him at my graduation party. He found the band to play at my MBA graduation party and they were amazing. People are still talking about that rager today. He was there also partying in rare form. He was really wonderful and will leave a huge hole in this world.

Andrew’s death came as a complete shock to me. As a Leadership Austin classmate, this picture of him is a fixed point in my life that I feel only happened yesterday.  

There are very few humans that I know who empathy comes so easily and authentically to in this world. He was a friend to all who knew him, who held principles that provided him with the rare ability to relate with everyone. He was a good human being. 

I will miss seeing him dearly, but he will not be forgotten. God Bless his soul and grant comfort to his loved ones during this time of need.

Here's another photo of us after a race, around 2016, at Central Texas Raceway in San Marcos.  Andrew was always helpful and so generous with his time. During one of my races he was helping me change tires and he also helped put out a fire from a car near us.  Exciting stuff! We shared a lot of laughs and great times at KOOP Radio and at events like this race. Andrew was a very generous soul and will be missed.

Andrew was such a powerful leader because of his kindness, his consistent hard work, his brilliance and innovation, and his ability to understand and communicate with others. He always seemed to have a plan, or the right words to say to make positive change happen. It was a joy to work with him while I was staff at KOOP - he was an incredible board chair that really rescued KOOP from destruction (with the help of many!). He inspired me consistently. I hope Austin knows how much he has done for this community. He will be sorely missed.
