
Over 5 years later and I've just heard!
Andy & I were friends in Shaker Heights for 3 years while in Junior and Senior High School. We would sneak out on Fridays Nights to a local pizza place. We would see each other almost daily during these years. Saturdays together, sleep overs, & very long bike trips were a part of it all. I was praying for him during this time that he might accept the faith I was trying myself to live. As a Salvation Army youth I invited him to one of our annual Youth Councils. It was during this weekend in May or June of 1979 that he knelt in prayer & asked Jesus in. I was there when it happened. My father was the one who prayed with him. about a dozen others knelt among them to show support. The change in him was very real and immediate. A year later I left Shaker Heights (moving again) & we lost touch (way before the age of social media). He stayed with a lot of his new friends in the Salvation Army as I found out later. I eventually became a Salvation Army officer myself. During one of my vacations (single at the time) I made the trip to Austin to pay him and his family a visit. It was great to catch up. I met his wife & children (this was probably shortly after the turn of the century). We even went to his new church together that Sunday. I told him that I was currently serving in Russia so could not realistically make another visit until my service there was over. It ended in 2006 when I was sent home to serve in Lynn, MA where I am today. But I came home from Russia specifically because I was getting married. The new and busy married life (at 43) made me realize that trips to Austin were not likely to happen soon. Yet the thought never occurred that life might be unkind never allowing another future visit. Letters & social media remain a challenge for me (to my regret at times like this). Years after his passing it's becomes my burden to carry his loss. My prayers will now go our to his family to help them celebrate his life and heal.



I have worked for many bosses in the past but, I have yet to work for a boss that comes close to Andrew. Andrew was there for me when I needed help and even when help was not known to be needed. I only wish that I could have helped the one that helped me so much in life and work.     God's speed my friend. Let your highways be wide, RV parking be free and the waters clear to wet a line. This I pray and this I know God will grant. So many things in life I would have done different but, knowing you is not one of them. If your or yours ever needs something just ask.     adam.



I enjoyed working with Andrew. After emailing or leaving a voicemail, he would promptly show up in my office, ready to help. His gentle manner, smile, and ability to fix problems made him my authority on computers. I will miss him each day. My thoughts and prayers are sent to the family upon this tremendous loss of husband, father, son, and friend.



So sorry to read about Andy's death. We have memories of him as a little boy who enjoyed visiting Nick and Doc in the summer and later as an adult when he moved next door to them. Our thoughts are with all of you. May memories of times together help comfort you.



I am so glad that I had the honour of knowing Andrew.  I so enjoyed working the Pentathalons with him and you and the kids.  Andrew will be greatly missed for his humor and kind demeanor.  I am so glad that I was able to know him and your whole family. I will be thinking about all of you at this time and will keep you all in my prayers.
