

Leandro "Andy" Arriaga returned to his maker on October 10, 2008. Andy passed away of a sudden heart attack. Andy was a true-born Austinite, born on March 13, 1934, to his father Isabel Arriaga and mother, Luiza Almendarez. Andy is survived by his wife, Sarah Rubio Arriaga; his sole son Orlando Arriaga; Yoli Arriaga (daughter-in-law); granddaughters, Hana and Mia Arriaga; and four sisters, Felipa Bazan, Dell Godoy, and Lucky Barba of Austin and Elizabeth Davis of Portland, Oregon. He attended St. Edward's University High School and was a graduate of Austin High School, Class of 1953. Andy attended The University of Texas, 1953-1955, the University of Chicago, 1962-1963, and served his country during the Korean War in the US Marine Corp (1949-1952) and then again in the US Army (1955-1959). Andy worked as a draftsman architect at Brown & Root, Inc and Bechtel Engineering in Houston and was an architectural and structural designer for various local architect firms in Austin. After leaving the corporate world, he started owned and operated Aztec Landscaping. Andy helped design and start his son's first locally owned Taco Shack Restaurant. Andy was an avid die cast car collector and a member of St. Theresa's Church. Andy's unfailing love, dedication and devotion to his family were unshakable. He will be missed dearly. Special thanks go to Gracy Woods II Nursing Home for their attentiveness and special care to Andy. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 13th at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home. Recitation of the Rosary will be 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 14th in the Weed-Corley-Fish Chapel. Funeral Mass will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at St. Theresa's Catholic Church, 4311 Small Dr in Austin with burial to follow at Austin Memorial Park.
