Ann Bishop Riney

Ann was born on June 13th, 1939 to Dorothy and Thomas Bishop in the windy city of Chicago, IL. Ann entered The Agnes Irwin School in the 5th grade located in Rosemont, PA. AIS is an All-Girls College Preparatory School. After graduating from AIS in 1957, she went to college in Ohio and graduated with a BA degree in sociology and psychology which led to a most rewarding career in Social Work.

After graduation, Ann moved to Bethesda MD and began working as a Social Work Assistant for Montgomery County Welfare Board. Ann then moved to New Orleans for 2 years to pursue her Master’s Degree in Sociology at Tulane University and graduated in 1968. Ann went back to Maryland and began climbing the administrative ladder at Montgomery County Dept. of Social Services. Ann was passionate about Social Work and loved what she did for a living. In 1996 Ann retired as Director of the agency.

During those years, Ann met her husband John Stanley Riney in Maryland and were married November 25, 1980. Having both retired, moved to Austin TX to be closer to family and grandchildren in June of 1999.

Ann made friends everywhere she went. Even now she misses them but is watching over them and at the same time has reunited with friends and loved ones which predeceased her. Ann lived a long and fulfilling life and will be greatly missed by everyone.

Ann was predeceased by her parents, Dorothy & Thomas and her husband John. She is survived by her son John Stuart Riney and wife Mariza; grandchildren, John Steven Riney & wife Kelly, Desorahy Riney & fiancé Daniel, Donna Goss, and Jeniffer Dressen & husband Justin; great-grandchildren, Mary Riney Manshack & husband Cory, Elijah & Whitley Dressen, Allison Riney and Wyatt & Parker Abel; great-great grandchildren, Owen & Mckinley Manshack.

A service was not scheduled because of Covid-19. Per her wishes, Ann was cremated and will be laid to rest at St. David’s Episcopal Church Cemetery in Wayne, PA and also at Moore Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Arlington, TX with husband John.
