Annie Elizabeth Lord died January 24, 2018. She was born in Attala County, Mississippi, on November 27, 1927. She was more commonly known as Libby by family and friends. She was preceded in death by sister Irene Lord Cochran and niece Karen Burns Dailey. Libby graduated from Kosciusko High School and Mississippi State College (as it was then known). She worked her way through college at a local business. She moved to Austin, Texas, to join many members of her family in 1967 and worked for awhile for Dr. Blake Smith and several other pastors at University Baptist Church. She went on to work as an administrative assistant for Dr. John L. Roueche in the College of Education at the University of Texas at Austin until she retired in 1992 at the age of 65.
She and her sister Ruby had season tickets for Texas Longhorns women’s basketball, men’s basketball, and football for many years. Hook ’em, Horns! They also loved driving around the country and particularly enjoyed exploring the National Park System. They managed to visit 47 of our 50 states (including Hawaii and Alaska). Libby was an avid reader and moved on to reading on four different Kindle e-readers as her eyesight began to fail.
