Armandina Martinez, a beloved, compassionate, and gentle soul, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2025, at the age of 93. Born on March 2, 1932, in Hebronville, Texas, Armandina was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a faithful servant to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and will be forever loved and never forgotten.
As a devout Catholic Armandina married Gregorio Martinez, Jr. at the age of 21, and together they lived in Mathis, Texas, raising six children. After their eldest daughter married and moved to Austin, Texas in 1973, Armandina followed with her two youngest sons. She was a loyal and loving wife to her husband for 45 years until his death in 1991. She briefly lived in Pflugerville, Texas, for two years and spent the remainder of her life in Georgetown, Texas, with two of her sons.
Armandina's greatest honor was being the best mother and grandmother that a woman could be. She was an exceptional woman who loved children unconditionally with her entire heart and soul, especially her own children, nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. She loved to read and enjoyed going to the movies with her family. Armandina was very talented at needlepoint and embroidery.
She was a doting and devoted mother who supported and cheered on her children in their sporting events and extracurricular activities. After being blessed with grandchildren, she enjoyed assisting with their school parties and teaching Catechism on Sundays at Sacred Heart Catholic Church and St. Louis Catholic Church. Armandina also loved traveling to attend parades and festivals throughout Texas, especially when accompanying family to sporting competitions or events involving her grandchildren.
She will be remembered as the foundation and matriarch of her family, the best mother and grandmother they could ever have. Armandina is survived by her sons Rene Martinez, Daniel Martinez, Raul Martinez, and Noel Martinez; daughters Delia Martinez and Rosa M. Puentes; and her brother Jesus Aguilar.
Services for Armandina will be held at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, located at 6100 North Lamar Blvd, Austin, TX 78752. Visitation will take place on November 7, 2025, from 9:30 am to 10:30 am, followed by a Rosary Service from 10:30 am to 11:30 am. The Funeral Service will be held from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm. A Graveside Service will follow at Austin Memorial Park Cemetery, 2800 Hancock Dr, Austin, TX 78731, from 1:00 pm to 1:30 pm.
Armandina Martinez will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
