Aurora R. Rodriguez

Aurora Rodriguez passed away peacefully on the 7th of October 7, in Austin, Texas. She celebrated her 81st birthday on the 16th of June. She was born in Georgetown, Texas in 1930 to Eustacio and Fortunata Rodriguez. Aurora was the eldest daughter of seven children. Aurora, an Austinite, graduated from Austin High School and attended The University of Texas at Austin. She was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Austin and very active in the Mujeres Metodista for many years. She held many positions in the Rio Grande Conference. Aurora retired from The Austin American-Statesman, Accounting Department, after 43 years of service. She loved spending time reading novels and working on her beautiful handcrafted cross-stitch art work. She loved her family and enjoyed every moment she spent with them. Aurora loved her monthly luncheons with her girlfriends to celebrate their birthdays.

Aurora was preceded in death by her parents, Eustacio and Fortunata Rodriguez and brother, Elias Rodriguez. Her loved ones left behind to cherish her memory are her brothers, Eustacio Rodriguez, Sr and wife Esperanza; Eleazar Rodriguez and wife Adelina; Eliseo Rodriguez and wife Eudelia; Ezekiel Rodriguez; and half-brother David Davilla and wife Kala; sisters, Elizabeth Garcia and Mary Aleman and husband Albert. Aurora had numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Aurora, better known as “Aunt Do” will be greatly missed, but never forgotten. She will forever be in our hearts and thoughts. We love you Aunt Do!

The family would like to extend a special “Thank You” to RN Cindy Gonzales, Yamah Dolo and the staff at the Retirement & Nursing Center for their loving care and support.

A Memorial will be conducted on Saturday, October 15, 2011, at ten o’clock in the morning at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 200 Brushy Street, Austin, TX 78701. Everyone is invited to join the family after the service for a Celebration in memory of Aurora R Rodriguez.
