Baneila Christine Lanpher (d. 06/22/2021) was born on August 31, 1933 in Dew, Texas to Americus Snead Black and Ruby Susanna Neville Black. Baneila was a star volleyball player at Teague High School, and often spoke of her love for the sport.
She eventually made it to Austin to work for Southwestern Bell (later AT&T). In Austin, she met her first husband, Arthur Lanpher. They had three children: Steven Lanpher, Suzanna Lanpher Dyer, and Wesley Lanpher. After her marriage to Art ended in divorce, Baneila met and married Orville Propst, who had children of his own: Raymond Propst, Marta Propst Booher, David Propst, and Rebecca Propst Hart.
Baneila was a notably happy person. She carried her sunny disposition around with her and used it to attract countless friends for life. She was active in the Jehova’s Witnesses and had a strong faith. She had a lifelong love of baseball and football, and was an avid fan of the Texas Longhorns teams, as well as all the MLB and NFL teams in Texas. She also had a lifelong love for pets, and many a stray dog or cat found a loving home with Baneila.
She is preceded in death by her parents; siblings; son Steven Lanpher; daughter Suzanna Dyer; and stepchildren Raymond Propst and Marta Propst Booher.
She is survived by her son Wesley Lanpher; stepchildren David Propst and Rebecca Propst Hart and husband William Hart; grandchildren Lance Lanpher, Nicole Lanpher, Cayte Schroeder and husband Nathan Schroeder; Josh Lanpher and wife Stacia Lanpher, Wesley Lanpher, Jr., John (Jack) Lanpher; numerous great grandchildren, step-grandchildren, step-great grandchildren; and close friend Mary Reed.
