Barbara Valeta Brown of Austin, Texas, died unexpectedly on June 18, 2012. She was born in Pensacola, Florida on June 7, 1950 to the late Captain (USN Ret) Carl Wallace and Ethel Virginia Callaway Brown of Corpus Christi, Texas.
Barbara graduated from Incarnate Word Academy and the University of Texas. She was presented as a debutante by the Order of De Pineda in 1969 and was a duchess in the 1970 Las Donas Buccaneer Coronation.
She lived most of her adult life in Austin and recently spent 4 years studying her love of painting at the Angel Academy of Art in Florence, Italy.
Barbara is survived by her sister Carlotta Brown Morrison (Ralph) of Mountain Home, TX; niece Elizabeth McKinnon (Mark), Mitchell, Callie, of San Diego, CA; nephews Richard Morrison (Kristin), Charlotte, Philip, Elizabeth, Katie of Houston, TX, Beau and Wallace Morrison of Mountain Home, TX; and cousins Patrick and Keen Shackelford (Connie) of Lexington, KY.
A private Remembrance will be held.
