Barbara Ann Doyle (Mimi as she was lovingly called by her grandchildren), gained her angel wings on November 10, 2022 in her apartment at The Pointe Assisted Living Community in Cedar Park, Texas. Barbara spent 85 wonderful years spreading joy to any and all around her with most of her time taking care of her family, her friends, and her community.
Barbara was born on December 11, 1936 to Hilda Grau Currey and Marion George Currey in the bustling city of Texarkana, Arkansas. One of her fondest childhood memories was walking down the street to the gas station to visit a parrot that lived there. Her best friend was her cousin, Frances Stephens (Tincy) who was more like a sister to her.
Barbara graduated from Southwestern High School in Waxahachie, Texas in 1954. She attended the University of Texas, Arlington and took additional classes at Richland College to advance in her career. Barbara was most proud of and worked hard to achieve a higher rank at Texas Instruments in the Marketing Division and absolutely loved it when they sent her traveling overseas to Japan and Brazil to work with their International Divisions of the company. She was passionate and loved what she did for a living.
As she grew older, she was talented and adventurous in many aspects of her life. Not only a master of words, and an avid crossword puzzler, but she also had a creative side and was amazing at making ceramics. You might also find her whistling a tune most days, watching a television show, and she would tell you that she never turned down the chance for a nap.
Later in life, Barbara enjoyed spending time talking with friends, attending church and watching her children grow into beautiful, thoughtful adults. She also loved to watch her grandchildren and great grandchildren as they matured into admirable young people. Not a day went by that Barbara didn't talk about how much her children and family meant to her -- her family was arguably her most important achievement in life.
Barbara is survived by her loving husband Leroy Doyle, her children, Carol Beckerich ( her husband Steven), Sharon Wilkerson (her husband Larry) and Carl Elliott (his wife Dee Dee), her two brothers, John Galloupe (wife Mary Ann) and Gerald Galloupe (wife Linda), her grandchildren, Carrie Mays (her three children, Isabella, Chandler and Dominick), August Wiley (her husband Robert and son Case), Stacey Rogus (her husband Jeff and son Garrett), Michael Beckerich (his wife Amanda and son Cameron), Jeffrey Wyatt (his wife Katie), Izaak Elliott, and Phoebe Gengler (her husband Wyatt).
Barbara was predeceased by her grandparents, Carrie and Pulaski Currey, Tex Elmo and George Grau; her parents, Hilda Grau Galloupe, Marion George Currey and step-father, J.W. Galloupe; her sister Wanda Currey, and grandson, Brandon Wyatt.
Services will be held at Cook Walden Chapel of the Hills Funeral Home: Wednesday, November 16 at 11:00 AM. Private Burial will be held at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Tx on a separate date.
Special thanks to her caregivers and the staff of The Pointe at Cedar Park and Generations Hospice for the loving care they gave to her. Barbara's life would seem too short to many, but those of us who were blessed to be touched by her understand that her existence and the imprint she left on our hearts exceed the quantity of time that she stayed here. A loving and wonderful woman until the very end, she will be greatly missed.
