

At a young age she professed her faith and was baptized at Simpson United Methodist Church, where she was a member her entire life. As a child she faithfully participated in Sunday school and the choir. Continuing to faithfully work in the church participating in the choir, treasure of finance, treasure of the United Methodist Women, Communion Steward, started and led a food pantry at the church as well.
She attended Martin Junior High and Austin High School. She worked at The Department of Public Safety (DPS) and retired after 25 years. Then she attended Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts (Austin), made the Presidents List graduating with a 4.0, becoming Chef Barbara.
She was preceded in death, by Her grandmother, Mable “Nanny” De Vaughn, and her mother, Laura Ellen Wright.
In 1998, Barbara married her long-life love Herbert Reed, Jr and survived by; her Husband, Herbert Reed, Jr., her sister, Debra Bedford (Billy Joe), her brother, Michael De Vaughn, her children, stepchildren, goddaughter, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. Barbara leaves a legacy behind to cherish her memories.
