

Belva Irene White Walker, 89, passed away on the 26th of February 2012, in Kingwood, Texas, after a brief illness. She was born on the 13th of September 1923 in Watson, Illinois, the youngest child of Henry and Ada White.
Belva married Charlie E. Walker in Knoxville, Tennessee , in 1944. They moved to Austin in 1947 when Charlie opened his chiropractic office. They were members of the Cosmopolitan International Civic Club from 1954-1991 (Charlie passed away in 1991). Belva enjoyed traveling to different cities for conventions they attended. She also liked gardening, sewing, quilting, reading and she loved cats. Belva moved to Kingwood, Texas in 2010.
Belva was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie; her sisters, Geneva and Opal and brother, Harold.
Belva is survived by son, Stephen Walker and his wife, Bonnie, of Kingwood, TX; daughter, Dixie Higgason, of Austin; granddaughters, Michelle Carroll and her husband, Chris, of Pflugerville, TX, Kristin Widman and her husband, Stuart, of Dallas, TX; grandsons, Craig Higgason and his wife, Amy, of Austin, Bryan Walker Bray and his wife, Claire, of Nacogdoches, TX and Russell Walker of Austin; a niece, Patricia Gordon and her husband, Robby, of Mesa, AZ and eight great-grandchildren.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from six o’clock until eight o’clock in the evening, on Wednesday, the 29th of February 2012, at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at ten o’clock in the morning on Thursday, the 1st of March 2012, in the Davis Chapel of Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, Texas.
In lieu of flowers and the customary remembrances, memorials may be sent to the Austin Humane Society, 124 West Anderson Lane, Austin, Texas 78752.
