Benino Robledo, 84, of Austin, passed away Saturday, December 4, 2021. Benino was born September 6, 1937 to Eleuterio and Amada Robledo in Ben Arnold, Texas. Born to a migrant farm worker, Benino learned a strong work ethic which he carried with him throughout his life.
On June 26, 1960, he married the love of his life, Mary Orozco, after meeting her at a dance. Benino was known for his dancing abilities and his good looks. Together Mary and Benino raised two boys, John Thomas and Robert.
Benino is a graduate of Killeen High School. A Vietnam War veteran, he had a great love for his country and was proud to have served. He had 40 years of service with the U.S. Postal office and was a proud and active member of the Knights of Columbus for over 19 years. Benino was a devout Catholic and longtime member of St. Louis King of France Catholic Church. His volunteer activities included the food pantry and fundraisers, such the fish fry and tamale sales. Benino loved God, his country, his wife, children and grandchildren. He was a true overseer who served his country and church with passion, love and honor.
Most days he could be found watching an old western, listening to Tejano polka, exercising, walking a neighbor’s dog, working in his yard which he loved, or more recently taking a Thai Chi class. Next to the love of his life Mary, his greatest conversations were about his grandchildren.
Benino is survived by his son, Robert Robledo and his wife Sue; grandchildren, Maria Robledo, Kristal Hudson, Raychel Falcon-Robledo, John Robledo and Nicholas “Niko” Robledo; as well as two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
