Benjamin Harland Baisdon

7 noviembre, 1928 – 26 noviembre, 2020
Obituario de Benjamin Harland Baisdon
EN EL CUIDADO DE

Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Homes & Cremation Services

Ben went home to the Lord on the morning of Thanksgiving Day, November 26, 2020. He peacefully fell asleep in the Lord’s hands, surrounded by family.

Born November 7, 1928 in Clines Prairie, Walker County, Texas. Ben was the fifth of six children, preceded in death by his brothers and sisters: George Baisdon, Bernice Murray, James Baisdon, Rowena Wimberly, and Julia Bennett. Also preceded in death by his precious grandson, Carlos Andres Baisdon.

Ben married Laura Jo White in January 1955. They were happily married for (almost) 66 years.

Ben is survived by his wife, Laura Baisdon, daughter Nancy Benay Cacciatore; son Kevin Harlan Baisdon and wife, Carol; and son Timothy Jay Baisdon and wife, Betsabeth.

He was GrandDad, Sugah, Abuelo to 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Ben graduated from Sam Houston State Teacher’s College and served in the US Air Force during the Korean War.

He retired from the State of Texas after holding his dream job, Director of Marketing for the Texas Department of Agriculture. His work took him to many countries across the world, including Soviet Russia and Communist China. He served dinner to the Chinese Premier in Houston.

After his retirement, Ben began another career in landscaping and lawn irrigation. This kept him busy until he turned a young 87. It did not make him rich…he was famous for not billing people and he considered this his ministry to ‘help’ people with their yards. Working for “Mr. B” was a rite of passage for many of the young men at his church which he loved and considered his honor to mentor.

Ben was a beloved and active member of Brentwood Oaks Church of Christ for many years. He landscaped the grounds and created the Memorial Garden, of which he was very proud.

His love of the Lord, family and friends, cooking, music, woodworking and all things beautiful were only a few of his passions and endearing qualities. Ben’s kindness and sense of humor will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
