Benjamin Ledet

Ben had a truly extraordinary zest for life. With an inquisitive mind and boundless energy, he developed countless and varied passions, ranging from playing sports, particularly football, to hunting and fishing, golfing, and playing video games with friends. He had a passion for astronomy and loved to have deep conversations about the natural world around him (often lasting into the early morning hours). Ben had an exceptionally kind heart, a fun-loving and outgoing personality, and an enduring smile. He enjoyed a beer, a shot of tequila, and his most favorite -- Topo Chico. Ben never met a stranger. He was fiercely loyal. He left a lasting impression on everyone he met, and will be dearly missed.

Ben attended St. Andrew’s Episcopal School in Austin, where he graduated in 2020 after having been a standout on the varsity football team. He then attended Louisiana State University (“LSU”), the alma mater of both of his parents. Ben was a lifelong LSU fan and it was his dream to attend school there. He was a proud member of the Theta Xi fraternity.

Ben was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Earl James Ledet, Sr. He leaves behind an extended loving family: his parents Earl James Ledet, Jr. and Suzanne Calamari Ledet; his brother Daniel James Ledet; his maternal grandparents, Harriet Elizabeth Robin and Michael Calamari Sr.; Mike Sr.’s wife Ann; his paternal grandmother, Shirley Ledet; Earl Sr.’s wife Susan Ledet, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends who will miss him dearly.

A service to celebrate Ben’s life will be held on Sunday, August 18, 2024, at 10:30 a.m., at the Chapel on the campus of St. Andrew’s Episcopal High School, 5901 Southwest Parkway, Austin, TX 78735.
