Ben graduated from Highland Park High School in St. Paul, MN class of 1970. He went on to receive a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Colorado, graduating cum laude in May 1974. He received a Masters of Arts in Psychology, and subsequently a Doctor of Psychology, both from the University of Kansas.
Ben is survived by his wife of 33 years, Janet Aronoff Marz. Their three daughters, Andrea, Elizabeth, and Michelle, were a source of deep pride for Ben.
Ben and Janet moved from St. Paul to Austin in August 1984. Ben worked for Factory Motor Parts of Eagan, MN, for over thirty years, ultimately as Executive Vice President.
Ben served on the board of the Jewish Federation of Austin, Early Childhood Program, and Austin Jewish Academy.
Ben is preceded in death by his father, Herbert Marz. He is survived by his mother, Betty Marz, his brother, Charles Marz, his mother-in-law Mimi Aronoff, three sisters - and two brothers-in-laws, Dianne and Elliot Silverstone, Rozanne Kobey, Stephen and Pepper Aronoff. He was blessed with many nieces and nephews, and many lifelong friends.
Ben will always be remembered for his deeply positive spirit, his commitment to friends and family, and for his remarkable ability to connect deeply with others. He was a lover of life, and possessed a sense of humor and appreciation for life that enriched and inspired everyone around him. He will be sorely missed.
Funeral services will be held at Cook-Walden Funeral Home at 1pm on December 31, 6100 N. Lamar Blvd. Memorial contributions can be made to Congregation Agudas Achim or Temple Beth Shalom, 7300 Hart Lane, Austin, Texas 78731.
