

Bertha Yanez Riojas “Momo”, age 80, passed away peacefully at home on October 3, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on December 16, 1944, in Fentress, Texas, she was the beloved daughter of the late Antonio and Luz Yanez.
Bertha’s life was a testament to faith, family, and resilience. She was deeply devoted to her loved ones and found her greatest joy in being a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend. Her warmth, kindness, and unwavering strength left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
A lifelong learner and hard worker, Bertha earned her GED later in life, a testament to her determination and dedication. She retired from IBM after many years of committed service. In her later years, she devoted herself to caregiving, working closely with elderly women, offering them comfort, dignity, and companionship in their final days. Through this deeply compassionate work, she touched countless lives and provided peace to many families. Her strength and nurturing spirit were a gift to all those she cared for.
Bertha was preceded in death by her parents, Antonio and Luz Yanez; her beloved son, Joe Robert Riojas; and her brothers Toby, Richard, Rudy, and Ray Yanez.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Felix A. Riojas; her sons, Albert Riojas and wife Virginia, and Gilbert Riojas; her cherished grandchildren, Joe Robert Riojas Jr. and wife Karen, Kristie Carmelita Riojas, Albert Antonio Riojas, Veronica Rodriguez, Alex Flores, and Frankie Flores; and six great-grandchildren who brought her endless pride and joy. She is also survived by five loving sisters, one brother, and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, and godchildren—each of whom held a special place in her heart.
Bertha was a strong, resilient woman who faced life’s trials with grace, courage, and a quiet determination. Her legacy of love, compassion, and strength will continue to live on through all who were blessed to know her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Compassus Hospice for the compassionate care and comfort they provided in Bertha’s final days. Deep gratitude also goes to the dedicated nurses, especially Krissy, at Seton and to Kristie, Karen, and Virginia Riojas, as well as Sylvia de la Rosa, Vera Rendon, Rebeca Flores, and Martha Soto, for their unwavering love, support, and tender care during her final journey. Your kindness will never be forgotten.

A visitation will be held on October 12, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, located at 2620 South Congress Avenue, Austin, TX 78704.
The Recitation of the Holy Rosary will take place on October 12, 2025, from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the same venue.
The Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for October 13, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, located at 1206 E 9th St, Austin, TX 78702.
Interment will follow on October 13, 2025, from 11:30 am to 12:00 pm at Live Oak Cemetery, located at 10739-10799 Twin Creek Rd, Manchaca, TX 78652.
