

Betty Lou Ham Grant, died on Friday, the 8th of February 2013, in Austin, TX, at the age of 81. She was the only child of Walton Thomas Ham and Lena Kutzschbach Ham. Betty was born on the first of April 1931 in Temple, TX. She graduated as valedictorian from Taylor High School and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Home Economics, with Honors, in 1952. While she was studying in the UT Law Library, she met John F. Grant, of Gonzales, TX. They married— John was called to join the US Air Force—and so began 30 years of travel and adventure from the US, England, US, Japan and back. Austin was the choice for retirement.
Betty is survived by two sons, Joseph Harmon Grant, of Springfield, VA, Thomas Hopkins Grant, of Austin and one daughter-in-law, Alice Rich Grant, of Springfield, VA. She has three grandchildren: Sarah Elizabeth Grant, John F. Grant and Mary Alice Grant, all of Virginia.
Graveside services will be conducted at eleven o’clock in the morning on Thursday, the 14th of February 2013, at Gonzales Odd Fellows Cemetery, Gonzales, TX, under the direction of Cook-Walden Funeral Home.
