Betty Jo Shannon

Obituario de Betty Jo Shannon
EN EL CUIDADO DE

Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Homes & Cremation Services

Betty Jo (Olle) Shannon went to be with the Lord on May 20, 2025, at the age of 92. She was born April 15, 1933, in Del Valle, Texas to Oswald and Laura (Kieke) Olle.

Betty grew up on a dairy farm, walking the pastures with her sister and their beloved cow Pansy. The Spirit of the Lord in her reflected Himself through quiet stillness and a gentleness. Her faith in Jesus was evident in the way she loved others, in the small, ordinary moments where kindness speaks the loudest.

Through her life, Betty developed a love for gardening, traveling, woodworking, and of course, quilting. She found pleasure in creating things, honoring others with these creations by displaying the beauty she saw in her creator. She spent her whole life making quilts for family, friends, and charity organizations. She always said, "God has more for me to do here," and after retirement, she started a quilting business, continuing to pour love into others through her craft for 20 years. She also enjoyed watching red birds, everything Disney, and was an active member of a bowling league.

More than anything, Betty enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved taking trips with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whether traveling the world or enjoying family gatherings at home. Her love for her family was always evident. She was present for people, always letting others know, "Call me if you ever need anything." Her concern wasn't about being impressive, but about making sure others knew they were loved.

Betty’s faith was not loud but it was deep. She was a devoted member of the Lutheran Church throughout her life, and her life reflected the gospel she believed. Christ was her hope, and she lived in light of that with patience, joy, and a grounded spirit.

She is survived by her son, Robert Kailing, and daughter, Melinda Heinrichs, and many, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Betty's legacy lives on in how she served and loved, pointing not to herself but to Jesus in the most humble ways. Through the quilts that warm homes, the joy she shared, and the Christ-like love she extended to everyone she met, she showed us that a life of faithful service to the Lord is reflected in the countless small moments of kindness and care for others.

Funeral services will be held at Salem Lutheran Church in Austin, Texas, where she will be laid to rest.
