27 March 2026, US Navy Chief Hospital Corpsman Billy Bert Mosteller (Retired) crossed the bar. Chief Mosteller (Old Doc Moose) served his country for 22 years. He was a Korean War (attached to Marines) and a Vietnam War veteran.

Chief Mosteller was preceded in death by his mother, Nell Rhodes Mosteller, his father, Bert Beethoven Mosteller, and daughter, Sharon Emi Mosteller.
He is survived by his wife, Haruo Mukawa Mosteller, his daughter Linda Mari Brown and husband Troy, his son John Martin Mosteller and wife Jennifer, and his grandson Connor Drake Mosteller, as well as numerous cousins and all his family in Japan.
Bill passed away peacefully at home with family. He will be greatly missed by all.
Visitation will be held at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 6300 West William Cannon Drive, Austin, Texas 78749, on April 7, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. A Celebration of Life will follow at 1:00 pm. Afterwards, a Committal Service will be held at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 6300 West William Cannon Drive, Austin, Texas 78749, on April 7, 2026, at 2:00 pm.
