“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7 ESV
Logan was born October 22, 1925, at home in Bartlett, Texas, to Paul and Katie Ivicic Pausewang. In this loving, hard-working, farm family, he developed a strong work ethic and great integrity.
At age 5, his sister, Ruby Lee, was welcomed into the family and their adventures began. He and Ruby were always close and were even baptized together at a revival they attended as youth.
Logan graduated high school at the age of 16 and at 17 entered the US Navy in 1943. After serving stateside during WWII, he was honorably discharged in 1946, beginning his work career at Capitol Machine Works, developing his lifelong machinist expertise.
On June 3, 1950, Logan married the love of his life, Imola Mae Mills, at Hyde Park Baptist Church in Austin. Imola was a soloist in the Hyde Park choir. Logan was quite the athlete. He was an integral player on the HPBC Men’s Fast Pitch Softball team playing shortstop. God blessed this marriage with 2 daughters, Brenda Lois and Betty Linn, as they made many memories on W. St. Johns before moving to Ohlen Road, which remained home for 57 years.
Completing 20 plus work years at Capitol, Logan and Imola became entrepreneurs opening “Logan’s Machine and Welding, Inc.” which continued for over 20 years utilizing his excellent machinist skills—“one of the best in Austin”! Logan touched others’ lives with his integrity and “hand shake” honesty and even mentored 2 special young men, Allen and John, who became life-long friends.
When not working at the shop, they shared “love time” with Brenda and Betty’s families…how they loved their girls, spouses, grandchildren, and great grandchildren!
Trailer traveling adventures to Eagle Nest, NM and beyond with Betty and Vern became their vacation fellowship. October 1997, after watching the aspens turn in Buena Vista, CO, Imola was diagnosed with cancer. God called her home in December which began a new season in Logan’s life. He continued to be blessed to have his daughters and families close. Also his sister, Ruby and many cousins, especially Debbie and Richard, who he enjoyed memorable casino trips with. God provided both life-long and new neighbors to fill his days at home. Rick and others would often stop by for an evening visit.
January 2019, Logan had a mild stroke and chose to move to an apartment at SPJST Assisted Living in Taylor. New friendships were formed with residents and staff saints as this now became home. Best of all was when his baby sister, Ruby, moved across the hall and once again they shared daily life.
God has given Logan 94 2/3 years filled with adventure and challenges, always growing him in faith and dependence on Him as he worshipped faithfully with his Quarries family.
To God alone be all glory for Logan’s life well lived…

“For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 38-39 ESV.
This was found in Imola’s notes. We choose to think that she saved this for Logan.
God looked around His garden
And He found an empty place
He then looked down upon
This earth and saw your tired face.
He put His arms around you
And lifted you to rest.
God’s garden must be beautiful
He always takes the best.
He knew that you were suffering;
He knew you were in pain,
He knew that you would never
Get well on earth again.
So He closed you weary eyelids
And whispered “Peace Be Thine.”
He then took you up to heaven with
Hands gentle and so kind.
It broke our hearts to lose you,
But you did not go alone.
For part of us went with you
The day God called you home.
