Born in Cheverly Maryland, Bryan spent his childhood years living in Severna Park near the Chesapeake Bay with his parents Joanne Conroy Bruner and Harry Bruner, his sister Shannon Conroy and his brother Michael Conroy. He always had a passion for life and adventure which lead him to live in beautiful places in California, Texas, and Costa Rica.
Bryan passed away at home in Austin, TX on the evening of January 22, 2021 surrounded by his family and friends with an abundance of love.
On May 7, 2006, Bryan married the love of his life, Amy Joseph. He later adopted her young son and soon after they had a daughter together.
After completing high school in Santa Barbara CA, Bryan tried his hand at several occupations from ski resorts to commercial painting, and even the restaurant business. Consequently, he was trained and mentored to ‘chef’ at two of the most popular restaurants in Santa Barbara in the late ‘90’s! Desiring a more stable occupation and with an eye toward the future of marrying and raising a family, Bryan then set his sights on the technology world; learning and mastering first Telecom and then Commercial Air Balancing fields. In each instance he was recognized as a valued employee and beloved by his team members. In Costa Rica, Bryan started his own small business offering General Improvements and handyman services to homeowners and businesses alike. Lastly, after completing a restaurant remodel project and be-friending the young owner who tempted him with one of his favorite past times (smoking meats), Bryan returned to his chef skills as a Pit Master at this now very popular local Costa Rica BBQ & Bar.
Bryan’s numerous other favorite activities that grew from childhood included ALL things Sports related: Softball teams, Golfing, Boating and fishing trips with friends. He tried every sport as a youngster, settling mostly on Soccer and Baseball – which he loved! Attending games, watching any and every sport possible on ESPN, playing fantasy football, doing March-Madness brackets…basically anything competitive: sign him up!
(He would even watch Spelling Bees on TV in the “off season”). 😊
Bryan especially loved entertaining at home, having his friends and family near for laughs and good times. His favorite at-home gatherings would be his crawfish boils! Beer, mud bugs and Old Bay always had a place in his heart and his home. He definitely had the “gift of gab”, never meeting a stranger and always up for telling stories – especially around a bonfire!
Bryan was always ready for any challenge (especially from his wife and kids), and always approached life with patience and steadfast integrity. He was honest, kind and a devoted father, husband, son, brother and friend. He was a man that loved unconditionally, and who had a sweet spot for most people that he knew all while being wrapped in a super cool exterior. Bryan also had a love for animals, especially BIG dogs and is surely at peace with his two big mastiffs on each side of him while sipping a beer by the water, with the sun shining on him; and watching over all of us!
While there are no words to adequately describe their loss, the family and friends Bryan left behind have only gratitude and joy for having had him in their lives! Until we meet again…BPC, we all love you!
