

Carol Jean (Gurney) Granger, 63, of Austin, Texas passed away on Saturday, October 11, 2014. She was born on December 25, 1950 in Springfield, Massachusetts to Kenneth and Jeanette Gurney who have preceded her in death.
Carol attended school in East Longmeadow and graduated in 1968. She later attended Holyoke Community College. Carol spent her professional career designing computer systems for banks and insurance companies. She had a deep appreciation for the arts and music and was very active in AMOA and the Wednesday Morning Music Club. She and her husband traveled extensively, across all seven continents. Carol was also an avid collector of silver. She was a member and past president of the Wednesday Morning Music Club of Austin and a volunteer docent for the Austin Museum of Art.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Gordon R. Granger of Austin, Step-children, Tricia Palka of Austin, Dwight Granger (Irinia) of Austin, step-grandchildren, Nicholas Palka of Austin, Alex Granger of Austin, siblings, Anne Louise Moulton (John) of Etson, NH, John Kenneth Gurney (Julia)of Enfield, CT, Andrew Warner Gurney (Cindy) of Westfield, MA, sisters-in-law, Patricia Granger Morris of SC, Sharon Marchant Granger of NC and many nieces and nephews and beloved friends.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, October 16, 2014 at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Boulevard.
