

She attended Laredo Junior College and was a registered nurse for many years. She moved to Angleton, Texas and lived there until her death. She was also a resident of Austin, Texas for some time. She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Ruperto Hernandez, her mother, Adela Trevino Uribe, her brother, Jose Vidales and her sister, Antonia Ortiz, one granddaughter and one great grandson.
Carolina sacrificed always for her nine children and leaves behind a wonderful, strong and loving family. She is survived by: Patricia Hernandez Silva, Norma Hernandez of Austin, Texas. Marina Garcia of Copperas Cove, Texas, Maria Hernandez, Guadalupe Hernandez, Raquel Hernandez, Andrea Hernandez of Houston, Texas, Yvonne Espinoza (Roberto) of Kyle, Texas and Reyes Hernandez of Huntsville, Texas. Nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren also survive her.
Carolina was a compassionate, courageous person, a fighter for fairness, and she never turned away from anyone in need. “Tenía un corazón grande.” Carolina was always unapologetically herself, honest and direct.
Rosary will be on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at 7 pm at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar, Austin, Texas with visitation beginning at 5 pm. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 10, 2017 at 10:30 am at St. Louis King of France Catholic Church, 7601 Burnet Road, Austin, Texas. Following the service, Carolina will be buried at the Austin Memorial Park Cemetery, 2800 Hancock, Austin, Texas.
