Carolyn Joyce Ross

Carolyn Joyce Bier Ross, age 85, passed away on Sunday, March 9, 2025. She was born December 12, 1939, in Ukiah, California, to Melvin and Maxine Bier. Carolyn never met a stranger nor anyone who did not recognize her caring heart. She was the glue in family relationships and the joy in any gathering. Carolyn attended Bayview Elementary and Polytechnic High School, graduating in 1957.

Carolyn was the finder of fun places to visit on the many road trips and cruises she enjoyed with her faithful husband, Bob, and on occasion with lifelong friends Gordon and Marilyn Lewis. She loved delving into genealogy, finding many famous ancestors and visiting many cemeteries, (where Bob would record the longitude and latitude of each gravesite) including discovering and visiting living relatives. She and Bob were lifetime members of the Polytechnic Alumni Association. In 2004 they moved from Spicewood, Texas, to FunNSun RV Resort in San Benito, TX, where they enjoyed Square Dancing and the many other activities in the park where Carolyn was a valued member of the Writers Group encouraging many others to write their life stories. She was the Program Director for the Tip O Texas Genealogy Society of Harlingen, Texas.

Carolyn is survived by her children: Kenneth Arthur Carre, Kimberly Anne Carre Woolsey, Jacky Lynn Ross Whisenhunt, and Tommy Lynn Ross; her Grandchildren by Ken: Crystal and Kenny; by Kim: Josh, Corey and Jeremy; by Jacky: Miranda; by Bobby: Nikki. And her great grandchildren: by Jeremy: Eli; by Kenny: Kinsley, Kora and Avery; by Crystal: Trevor, Tyler and River.

She is proceeded in passing by her daughters Katherine Marie Carre and Bobby Lynn Ross Talarizaden and her husband Robert Ross.

A visitation for Carolyn will be held Tuesday, March 18, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home, 6300 West William Cannon Drive, Austin, TX 78749. Followed by the funeral service at 11:00 AM, then a graveside service 12:00 PM.
