Charles Jacob Burghardt died at the age of 90 after a short illness on October 27, 2014. After *visitation* on October 29th from 6-8:00 at Cook Walden Funeral Home on North Lamar, *funeral services* will be held at St. Louis Catholic Church on Burnet Rd. in Austin, TX at 10:00 on October 30th.
Burial will be at the Assumption Cemetery following.
Charles is survived by brother Harry, nieces Bessie Wuench, Peggy Burghardt, Glenda Price, Great-Nephew Lt. Andrew Price, and Great-Great-Nephew Michael Price and many cousins throughout central Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents Jacob Charles Burghardt and Flora Moczygemba, brother Harold, and sister Joann.
Charles grew up in San Antonio and joined the Marine Corp in 1943. He saw action on Iwo Jima and participated in the Occupation of Japan. Upon leaving the Corp he returned to San Antonio and attended Trinity University. Later he moved to Austin and worked at various print shops as a pressman/lithographer.
Charles enjoyed bowling in several different leagues throughout his life. He was a parishioner at St. Louis Catholic Church for many years.
